Synopsis

‘Love in the Cloisters’ takes you, the reader, on a breathtaking journey into this epic love story that will make you laugh, cry and ask yourself what would you do if you were in Georgia’s five-inch shoes? Why is it that Georgia, who is married for only a short time to Ross, a wonderful, loving man, allows herself to fall madly and passionately in love at first sight, with Cameron, a man of God, a man from the cloisters, a man of wondrous charisma? In the time it took for him to say her name, Cameron had Georgia under his spell, in his arms and into his bed. Did she just want Cameron because he was forbidden fruit or was it because he was the best lover she’d ever had? For Georgia, reason didn’t prevail. She would do anything just to have one more moment, one more minute, one more hour, one more day, wrapped in his arms. Georgia had lived an idyllic life until that day, when it took a complete 360-degree turn and her life, as she knew it, changed forever.

When the Otis family—brash, modern Americans—move into the ancient and supposedly haunted Canterville Chase, they’re met not with terror, but with sarcasm, oil, and detergent. Poor Sir Simon, the resident ghost, has frightened generations of Cantervilles into madness and despair, but now finds himself humiliated and ignored by skeptical newcomers who care more about removing bloodstains than respecting the supernatural.
Witty, satirical, and surprisingly moving, The Canterville Ghost blends comedy and ghost story into a timeless tale about redemption, forgiveness, and the gentle power of compassion. At its heart is the unlikely friendship between Sir Simon and young Virginia Otis, whose kindness becomes the key to unlocking centuries of sorrow.
This new narration by Simon Relph captures both the dry humor and the emotional depth of Oscar Wilde’s beloved story.

Katherine Mansfield was born on 14th October 1888 into a prominent family in Wellington, New Zealand, the third of five children.

A gifted Celloist, at one point she thought she might take it up professionally at the same time her early writing was published in school magazines.

At 19 Katherine left for home for England, there she met the modernist writers D H Lawrence and Virginia Woolf with whom she became close friends.

She travelled around Europe before returning to New Zealand in 1906 and to begin writing a series of the short stories that she would later become famous for. They often focus on moments of disruption and frequently open rather abruptly.

In contrast her poetry is often overlooked and indeed it comes from seemingly a rather different part of her literary brain. Her observations and language can at times seem innocent, almost child-like. But there are others which give a very different view, another layer to be ventured into and discovered.

By 1908 she had returned to London and to a rather more bohemian lifestyle. A passionate affair resulted in her becoming pregnant but married off instead to an older man who she left the same evening with the marriage unconsummated. She was then to miscarry and be cut out of her mother’s will, allegedly because of her lesbianism.

In 1911 she started a relationship with John Middleton Murry a magazine editor and, although it was volatile, it enabled her to write some of her best stories.

During the First World War Mansfield contracted extrapulmonary tuberculosis, which rendered any return or visit to New Zealand impossible.

Katherine Mansfield died at the age of only 34 on January 9th 1923 in Fontainebleau, France.

USA Today bestselling author Devon Monk returns to her gritty, magic-fueled, urban fantasy adventure. Cursed with Life and Death magic, enemies-to-brothers fight for dominance in a city full of bad guys that have no idea who they're up against.

Shame Flynn and Terric Conley hadn't meant to become the living, breathing vessels for Death and Life magic. But they hadn't meant to die, be reborn, break magic, save the world, and kill a few psychopaths along the way, either.

The one thing they had meant to do was to seal magic away once and for all, so it could never be used to kill again.

But when a string of dead bodies—people killed by magic—appear throughout Portland, Oregon, Shame and Terric must scramble to uncover who broke the locks on magic this time, and how.

And they need to do it fast. Before Terric's sister becomes the next target, before the Russian mob locks them in their sights. And before an innocent child and her foolish father accidentally put themselves on the magic battlefield that will only get them killed.
