Sinossi

She, A History of Adventure, is a novel by Henry Rider Haggard. One of the best-selling books of all time. Extraordinarily popular upon its release, She has never been out of print. According to the literary historian Andrew M. Stauffer, "She has always been Rider Haggard's most popular and influential novel, challenged only by King Solomon's Mines in this regard". The story is a first-person narrative that follows the journey of Horace Holly and his ward Leo Vincey to a lost kingdom in the African interior. There, they encounter a primitive race of natives and a mysterious white queen, Ayesha, who reigns as the all-powerful "She", or "She-who-must-be-obeyed". She is one of the foundational works of fantasy literature. Similarly, the carefully constructed "fantasy history" of She foreshadows the use of this technique that characterises later fantasies such as The Lord of the Rings and The Wheel of Time series. She is part of the adventure subgenre of literature which was especially popular at the end of the 19th century, but which remains an important form of fiction to the present day. Along with works such as Treasure Island (1883) and Prince Otto (1885) by Robert Louis Stevenson, and Jules Verne's A Journey to the Centre of the Earth (1871) and Around the World in Eighty Days (1875), She had an important formative effect on the development of the adventure novel. Indeed, Rider Haggard is credited with inventing the romance of archaeological exploration which began in King Solomon's Mines and crystallised in She.

'Jesus the Troublemaker' is an immersive account of the dramatic last week of the life of Jesus of Nazareth, or rather Yeshua Ish-Natzaret. He was a Galilean Jew who spoke Aramaic with a northern accent. Full of dramatic incidents and confrontational dialogues, the book uncovers many events behind the bare record of the Gospels of Mark, Luke and John. For example, why did Yeshua arrive late at the Temple for his triumphal entry? Because he had just walked 18 miles uphill from Jericho! Why were the chief priests so hostile to Yeshua? Because his clearing the traders out of the Temple was not a one-off demonstration, it was a four day occupation! Why are there different accounts of the first Easter Day? This is solved by the simple question, Where was Simon Peter? Sister Hilda Mary wrote, "Well! Holy Week has come alive in a new way and will never be the same again. The book has finally removed set images and confusions stuck in my mind from so many years and something much more vibrant and alive has replaced them." Premier Christianity wrote: "The main section of the book is a narrative account of Jesus’ last eight days, written as fiction but still faithful to the Gospel accounts …. If Andy Roland’s desire is to bring the story of Jesus alive to a new audience and answer questions about the cultural context, the book succeeds."
