Sinossi

When science meddles with nature… who pays the price?

From the mind of H. G. Wells—master of speculative fiction—comes The Food of the Gods and How It Came to Earth, a bold tale where science creates a miracle… and then loses control of it.

In an age of innovation, two scientists develop a substance that causes enormous growth—literally. What starts as a miracle for agriculture quickly spreads to animals, insects, and even children, birthing a world of giants and unleashing unintended consequences. Society fractures, fear rises, and mankind must confront the monsters it made.

🧬 A prophetic story of hubris, ethics in science, and evolutionary terror, this gripping novel mixes social satire with Wells' trademark visionary power.

Audiobook "The Yellow Wallpaper" (original title: "The Yellow Wall-paper. A Story") is a short story by American writer Charlotte Perkins Gilman, first published in January 1892 in The New England Magazine. It is regarded as an important early work of American feminist literature for its illustration of the attitudes towards mental and physical health of women in the 19th century. It is also lauded as an excellent work of horror fiction.
The story is written as a collection of journal entries narrated in the first person. The journal was written by a woman whose physician husband has rented an old mansion for the summer. Forgoing other rooms in the house, the husband confines the woman to an upstairs nursery. As a form of treatment, the husband forbids the journal writer from working or writing, and encourages her to eat well and get plenty of air so that she can recuperate from what he calls a "temporary nervous depression – a slight hysterical tendency", a common diagnosis in women at the time. As the reader continues through the journal entries, they experience the writer's gradual descent into madness with nothing better to do than observe the peeling yellow wallpaper in her room.

The Baron Ritzner Von Jung was of a noble Hungarian family, every member of which (at least as far back into antiquity as any certain records extend) was more or less remarkable for talent of some description — the majority for that species of grotesquerie in conception of which Tieck, a scion of the house, has given some vivid, although by no means the most vivid exemplifications. My acquaintance with Ritzner commenced at the magnificent Chateau Jung, into which a train of droll adventures, not to be made public, threw me during the summer months of the year 18—. Here it was I obtained a place in his regard, and here, with somewhat more difficulty, a partial insight into his mental conformation.

A woman longing for passion. A life that feels too small. A dream that leads her where she never meant to go.
Emma Bovary marries a kind but ordinary doctor, hoping for romance, beauty, and excitement. Instead, she finds herself trapped in routine and aching for more. As she pursues love, luxury, and escape, her desires turn into dangerous illusions—drawing her deeper into secrets, debt, and heartbreak she cannot control.

Praised as "one of the greatest novels ever written," Flaubert's masterpiece is renowned for its exquisite prose, psychological depth, and fearless portrayal of desire and disillusionment. Emma's struggle to reconcile fantasy with reality remains as gripping today as when the book first shocked the world.

If you love emotionally intense storytelling, rich character exploration, and classics that linger long after the last page, this novel is essential reading.
