This book consists of the following two titles:
Russian Revolution: The Russian Revolution was a period of political and social revolution that started at the time of the First World War in the previous Russian Empire. The Russian Revolution, which started in the year 1917 with the fall of your home of Romanov and ended in the year 1923 with the facility of the Soviet Union by the Bolsheviks (at the end of the Russian Civil War), was a series of 2 transformations: the first one defeated the royal federal government and the 2nd set up the Bolsheviks in power. The first revolution, which started in the month of February 1917, was focused around the then-capital of Petrograd (now Saint Petersburg). The Russian Army had mutinied after suffering heavy army losses throughout the fight. Subsequently, members of Russia's parliament (called the Duma) took control of the nation and formed the Russian Provisional Federal Government. The interests of significant business owners, and the Russian nobility and upper class, controlled this federal government.
American Revolution: Between 1765 to 1791, the American Revolution was an ideological and political revolution in British America. In the American Revolutionary War (between 1775 to 1783), the Americans in the Thirteen Groups established sovereign countries that beat the British, getting independence from the British Crown and establishing the USA of America, the first modern-day constitutional liberal democracy. The tax of American settlers by the British Parliament, a body in which they had no direct representation, provided contention. Before the 1760s, Britain's American groups kept a great degree of internal autonomy, which was managed by colonist legislatures on a regional level. The Stamp Act of 1765 enforced internal taxes on the groups, leading to colonist outrage and the development of the Stamp Act Congress, which united members from different provinces.

Indian Creek Massacre and Captivity of Hall Girls was written by Charles Martin Scanlan in 1915. The Indian Creek Massacre arose in 1832 at LaSalle County, Illinois, after a dispute about a settler-constructed dam that blocked fish from reaching a Native American village downstream. It’s a unique historical snapshot of early America centered around Sylvia and Rachel Hall, sisters who were the only survivors of the massacre and were abducted, as well as the story of Chief Shabona who was a member of the Ottowa and Potawatomi.
This audiobook is narrated by Sylvia’s great-great-great-granddaughter, Rebecca Cook, with help from her sister Gwendelyn Gilchrist. The written book itself is in public domain and can be downloaded with photos for free from Project Gutenberg at gutenberg.com.

Michael's charismatic and highly successful wife Maggie showed the first signs of dementia in her mid-fifties. His experience of caring for her is quite exceptional: he lived with her in a care home for nine years, overseeing every aspect of her care and medical treatment. Michael chose to do this as an act of love, not wanting to be separated from his wife nor to leave her alone. But the result was that a highly experienced business consultant lived inside the care system for nine years, observing, guiding and negotiating care and medical treatment on Maggie's behalf, and is now able to share that story. In the experience of care professionals, this is unique. The lessons he learnt are so important that he has been urged by senior figures in the care sector to share his experience for the benefit of others and to promote much needed changes in the current care system.

Not Just for the Boys - Why We...

Not Just For the Boys looks back at how society has historically excluded women from the scientific sphere and discourse, what progress has been made, and how more is still needed. Athene Donald, herself a distinguished physicist, explores societal expectations during both childhood and working life using evidence of the systemic disadvantages women operate under, from the developing science of how our brains are and more importantly aren't gendered, to social science evidence around attitudes towards girls and women doing science.

It also discusses how science is done in practice, in order to dispel common myths: for example, the perception that science is not creative, or that it is carried out by a lone genius in an ivory tower, myths that can be very off-putting to many sections of the population. A better appreciation of the collaborative, creative, and multi-disciplinary nature of science is likely to lead to its appeal to a far wider swathe of people, especially women. This book examines the modern way of working in scientific research, and how gender bias operates in various ways within it, drawing on the voices of leading women in science describing their feelings and experiences. It argues the moral and business case for greater diversity in modern research, the better to improve science and tackle the great challenges we face today.
