Sinossi

Arthur Schnitzler's "Hands Around [Reigen]: A Cycle of Ten Dialogues" offers a provocative exploration of love, desire, and social dynamics in early 20th-century Vienna. Structured as a series of interlinked conversations between different pairs of characters, this play navigates the complexities of human relationships, revealing the superficiality and depth of intimacy. Schnitzler's incisive dialogue and vivid characterizations create an interplay of perspectives, allowing readers to observe the societal constraints and personal motivations that shape the erotic encounters of its diverse cast. The work is notable for its subversive approach to themes of sexuality and morality, contributing to discussions around modernist literature and early feminist thought within the literary canon of the time. Arthur Schnitzler (1862-1931) was an Austrian playwright and novelist, known for his keen psychological insights and pioneering explorations of sexuality. Growing up in a Jewish family in fin-de-siècle Vienna, he was deeply influenced by the cultural ferment of his surroundings and the burgeoning theories of psychoanalysis, particularly those of Sigmund Freud. This personal and intellectual context informs "Reigen", as it confronts the taboos of the era while reflecting Schnitzler's own struggles with societal norms and expectations regarding intimacy. "Hands Around" stands as a compelling examination of human nature that is both timeless and relevant. Readers who are intrigued by the intersections of love and social class will find this work not only engaging but essential. Schnitzler's deft craftsmanship invites contemplation and discussion, making it a significant addition to any literary discourse on sexuality and human connection.

I’m the darling of Australian TV. A good-girl actress with a spotless record. Or at least, that’s what I let the public believe. But what I do behind closed doors would shock them all. I’m a far cry from the girl next door I play on their screens each night.
Riley Clarke knows that better than anyone.
I loved him once, but for the past ten years, all we’ve done is f**k and fight. Some might say we’re friends with benefits, but the truth is, we aren’t even friends. All we are is explosive chemistry and screw-you-senseless sex. He makes me hot. He makes me feel. He makes me reckless.
When scandal rocks my carefully constructed world and my secrets are exposed, it’s Riley’s arms that close around me, protecting me from the storm.
But storms create floods, and a flood can drown you. You and the people you love.

Miguel & Elizabeth Newquay Beach Tales 2024
Book 2 of 6 The Tides of Trust
This is the second book in the series and the story is as follows:
After losing his mother and stepmother, 18-year-old Miguel Townsend develops a fear of the ocean he once loved. When he meets Elizabeth Carter, the lifeguard who saved his life in Book 1, grieving her fisherman father’s death, she gently helps him rediscover his connection to the water. Through patient lessons, they bond over shared loss—Miguel’s fractured relationship with his emotionally distant father, Elizabeth’s strained home life with her withdrawn mother. As Miguel learns to trust the waves again, he begins opening up, realizing grief, like the tide, ebbs and flows but never disappears. Meanwhile, his father Paul confronts his own avoidance, tentatively rebuilding their relationship. On a quiet August morning, Miguel finally dives beneath the surface, hearing his mother’s laughter in the waves—a moment of healing. The story ends with Miguel, Elizabeth, and Paul on the shore, united by love and memory, understanding that while loss changes you, it doesn’t have to drown you.
I do hope you enjoy this first instalment, and it's only $3, all subsequent will remain at that price.
I have worked very hard and meticulously to provide you with an enjoyable experience, the initial opening credit music which does run to approximately 2 plus and is, what can I say, a love song in modern style . The closing music ends in a modern upbeat instrumental at 2 minutes plus again looking forward to the next episode!
The story itself runs to about 16 minutes and is narrated by my wife, Claire Francis
I do hope you enjoy this audiobook and let me know what you think, there are a lot more to come

She needed someone safe. I volunteered to be hers. Now I just have to survive pretending it's temporary.I've faced ambushes, firefights, and twelve months in the desert. None of it prepared me to walk into my hometown and see Austen MacAvoy again—my best friend's little sister, the girl I've been secretly in love with for over a decade.

She doesn't know that part. To her, I'm still just Clint. Her brother's buddy. The guy who sends back snarky letters from deployment and always shows up with good manners and bad jokes.

But when her cousin's wedding gets complicated—and her ex is suddenly a groomsman with a date—she needs someone on her arm. Someone who can fake a relationship long enough to save her pride. I can do that. I'd do just about anything for Austen.

We agree it's pretend. Just a few dates. Just long enough to convince her nosy relatives and make the ex regret his life choices. But the more time we spend together—bowling, dancing, cooking dinner for two—the more impossible it is to pretend.

She's everything I've ever wanted. And this fake wedding date? It might just be my real shot at forever.

    Contains mature themes.
