"رواية ديستوبية، تدور أحداثها حيث يستيقظ البشر يومًا ليجدوا كُتُبَهم تتساقط من السماء، وتلك هي الدهشة الأولى، وبعدها تضربهم الدَّهشةُ الثانية، أَلَا وهي تساقُط ملامحهم جميعًا! لتأتي النهاية في الدهشة الثالثة عبر نمطٍ من الإيهام السَّرديِّ القائم على كشفٍ مُتوالٍ لطبقات النَّصِّ الروائي عبر تَعَدُّد أصوات الرُّواة؛ ما يجعل من الحكاية ذاتها جداريَّةً سَرديَّةً طَرَّزَتها أصوات مختلفة.
وتكسر الرواية صورة المدينة الفاضلة ""جبرا""، تلك التي تحرق الكتب وتُدمِّر تراث البشرية، في حين يسعى بعض البشر داخلها وراء ثوابٍ مُنتَظَرٍ، واكتشاف حقيقة الموت أو القيامة التي أوشَكَت، أمَّا مَن اختاروا السَّيرَ خارج هذا السعي فإنهم في مواجهةٍ مع ""قطيع من المنتفعين"" من المتلاعبين بالنصوص، دُعاة الهدم.
وتُظهِر الروايةُ رجالًا آخرين، مَهَمَّتُهم استخدام ""أسلحةٍ"" لمحو كلِّ شيء حرفيًّا، والكتب والحكايات والفن والتراث وكل ما تركه السابقون من آثار تشهد على عبقرية الراحلين.
