لم يقتصر إسهام الشابي على الشعر السياسي فقط، فقد ساهم في عودة الاتجاه الرومانسي في الشعر العربي متأثرًا بشعراء الرومانسية الأوروبيين، فالشابي يعد فذًا من أفذاذ عصره في الشعر، سقى الشعر بدمائه قبل أفكاره حتى عُرف شعره في جميع أنحاء الوطن العربي لصقله وعمق تجربته. وهنا نذكر أنه في كتاب "دراسات في الشعر العربي المعاصر" يشير مؤلفه الدكتور شوقي ضيف إلى تباين الأطوار النفسية في كتابات أبو القاسم الشابي الشعرية وهو ما جعله يتجه في قصيدته إلى مناشدة الطبيعة والحلم بحياة شاعرية وسط الجبال والوديان يتأمل فيها الكون ويغني فيها مع البلابل. لكن اتجاه أبو القاسم في شعره نحو الطبيعة كان مرتبطًا بحالته المزاجية؛ فأحيانًا تكون أنغامًا تنشد الجمال وتسبح في بحور الصفاء والنقاء . والآن، فلنستعيد بعضا من قصائد الشابي، فهي المدخل المناسب لعوالمه الشعرية التي تجسدها هذه المختارات .Mostra libro
ما من مسرحية غنائية لقيت من النجاح والشهرة الفائقة بمجرد ظهورها على مسرح دار الأوبرا بالقاهرة عام 1871، بل واحتفظت بمكانتها في تاريخ الأدب والموسيقى مثل أوبرا (عايدة)، إن هذه المسرحية تعتمد في جاذبيتها على الجو الخيالي لمصر القديمة وحوادث حروبها الشائقة، وتتميز قصة عايدة بطابع قوة الحب وعظمة التضحية . بعد أن أخمدت الحرب الشعراء بين مصر وأثيوبيا وكان النصر فيها حليف مصر سيقت عايدة ابنة ملك أثيوبيا أسيرة إلى بلاط فرعون، ولكن إشفاعاً لجمالها الخلاب اختارتها أمنيريس أميرة مصر وصيفة لها، تحسن معاملتها وتكرم ضيافتها..كانت عايدة تتألم لفراق والدها ووطنها ولكن حبها للضابط المصري رداميس كان سبباً في احتمالها عذاب الأسر وجحيمه وكانت ابنة ملك مصر تعشق أيضاً رداميس وتبذل كل وسعها بأن ينفرد بحبها حتى تؤول إليه عظمة الملك والسلطان بعد أن يتزوجها لم يرفض رداميس حب امنيريس في الظاهر حتى لا يفتضح أمره مع عايدة ولسوء حفظ الفتاة الحبشية اكتشفت ابنة فرعون سر علاقتها برداميس، ومنذ ذلك الحين بدأت تقسو على عايدة وتعاملها أسوء المعاملة.Mostra libro
