The Global View: Ephraim Goldman is a celebrated author. An academic lion, he hobnobs with Einstein, Berenson and other movers and shakers of his era. Meanwhile, his son Bernard - also a writer - is desperate to make his own reputation in the literary world. After a publisher hires Bernie to write his father’s biography, he stumbles across a startling photograph, and the mystery surrounding his father begins to unfold. Can he repair their relationship and begin to understand his father, or will long-kept secrets destroy their family?

A Loafer's Guide To Living: A story of disrupted lives during a search for the rarest of conditions: equilibrium. Bernard Goldman is living in the shadow of his famous father. His life is in shambles, and he gets grief from everyone and everything around him. Can he weather the storm, or is his life ruptured beyond repair?

River for the Unrequited: Sometimes, the greatest challenges are those closest to home. After Bernard gets roped into an eco-rafting trip down the pristine Jennings River in Yukon, he tries to bond with his son, Sergeant Sean Goldman, who suffers from extreme PTSD after a tour in Afghanistan. But can the wilderness adventure heal the hidden cracks in Bernie’s marriage, help Sean find his way, and give Bernie a path forward with his famous father, Ephraim?

A human starting over light years from home . . .

Accepting a job on Spire Station sounded great in theory. Now that I'm on an enormous alien space station with no humans in sight, I'm questioning the sanity of that choice. When my best friend Mezli tricks me into using a pleasure sim, I find an unexpected connection with Breks, the intriguing alien running the sim.

The only problem? He hides behind a holo and refuses to let me see his true form. For all I know, he could be a sentient ooze, but I'm too far gone to care. Now I just have to find a way to prove it.

An alien desperate to forget his heartbreak . . .

When I took a job at SimTech Suites, I'd planned to use pleasure sims to escape any thoughts of my ex. However, a far more enticing source of distraction shows up—a purple-haired human named Fina with the body of a goddess and shy, delightful wit to match. Too bad I'm nothing like the attractive holo I use for my job. I'm a seladin with sharp teeth, brutal claws, and menacing features.

Her uneasy reaction after our chance meeting out on the station only confirms that I can never show her my true form. No matter how desperate I am to make her mine.

    Contains mature themes.

A romance set on the highways of old England
On a cool crisp night in the Epping Forest, a stagecoach was moving amongst the shadows of a full silver moon.
"the moonlight gives the forest a magical glow", said Mary Gregory a passenger in the coach. The other passenger was her brother, Magistrate Sir Thomas Gregory, but he thought it felt less magical but more eerie and dangerous. He was seeing highwaymen and footpads in every shadow. The driver was also very nervous as highwaymen were known to work within these woods.
Suddenly a handsome well dressed man carrying a brace of gleaming duelling pistols appeared, He was riding a white horse and had come out of the shadows into the moonlight.
The nervous driver sped up the coach.
The horseman was following the coach but at a faster pace, shouting "Stop now or I'll shoot!"
"Stand and deliver, your money or your life!" shouted the highwayman Firing his pistol he winged the driver who knowing the next shot might kill him slowed the coach to a stop.

From the acclaimed author of Godshot and "a pitch-perfect ventriloquist of extraordinary talent and ferocity" (T Kira Madden) comes a defining book of Californian stories where everyone is seeking or sabotaging love.

United by the stark and sprawling landscapes of California's Central Valley, the characters of Heartbroke boil with reckless desire. A woman steals a baby from a shelter in an attempt to recoup her own lost motherhood. A phone-sex operator sees divine opportunity when a lavender-eyed cowboy walks into her life. A mother and a son selling dream catchers along a highway that leads to a toxic beach manifest two young documentary filmmakers into their realm. And two teenage girls play a dangerous online game with destiny.

Heartbroke brims over with each character's attempt to salvage grace where they can find it. Told in bright, snapping prose that reveals a world of loss and love underneath, Chelsea Bieker brilliantly illuminates a golden yet gothic world of longing and abandonment under an unrelenting California sun.
