Sinossi

Power and Persecution: Political Influence in Inquisition Trials by William Ubagan offers a compelling exploration of one of history's most infamous institutions—the Inquisition. Far from being solely an instrument of religious fervor, the trials reveal a deeper narrative of political maneuvering, social control, and the strategic use of faith to suppress dissent.

Through meticulous research and sharp analysis, this book examines how influential figures wielded the Inquisition to consolidate power, silence opposition, and shape societies. It uncovers the hidden agendas behind the persecution, the political motivations driving key decisions, and the lives irreparably altered in the name of justice.

Combining historical evidence with modern insights, Ubagan paints a vivid picture of the Inquisition’s complex legacy, challenging readers to consider how these historical dynamics still resonate in today's political and legal systems.

This work is an essential read for history enthusiasts, scholars, and anyone seeking to understand the intersection of power, faith, and justice in shaping human history.

About the eternal pull of love, from a dancing perspective.
Imagine walking into a nightclub, and seeing the woman of your dreams skipping across
the dance floor; elegantly, with heels that she uses to swivel and cavort in an organic
fashion. Enticing you to join, even if you can't dance, at least with your eyes.
And to the women, giving over to an abduction of your senses into the realms of the
dance, urging you to join in that sensual celebration.

The Abbey of Einsiedeln is one of the most important baroque monastic sites. On the site of the cell of the hermit Meinrad a Benedictine monastery was built in the early Middle Ages. Over the course of time, a pilgrimage developed, first to the chapel built on the site of Meinrad’s cell, then to the first image of the Virgin Mary, consecrated by the Lord, in this chapel. Even today, the chapel with the miraculous statue of the Black Madonna is still the destination of a pilgrimage that radiates far and wide. The present abbey was built in the Baroque period according to the plans of Brother Caspar Moosbrugger, with the church in the centre and the monastery square in front. The abbey has survived all the storms of time, the Reformation and the suppression during the French invasion, and still houses a lively Benedictine monastery.

We can compare the whole cosmic universe with a dark room. Inside

the room a few candles are flickering. With this candle-light the

room is being slightly illuminated. We can call this candle-light as

energy. Centring such energy each universe has developed. Several

    similar universes are positioned parallelly.

The universe we are in does not only mean our earth or the solar

system, but everything surrounding makes up our universe. Between

two such adjacent universes there is a huge dark vacant space. By

making an aperture through the wormhole we can cross this dark

vacant space within minutes and go from one universe to another.

The first book to critically examine the legacy of pop superstar Mariah Carey.

When it comes to Mariah Carey, star power is never in doubt. She has sold hundreds of millions of albums and cut more chart-topping hits than any other solo artist—ever. And she has that extraordinary five-octave vocal range. But there is more to her legacy than eye-popping numbers.

Why Mariah Carey Matters examines the creative evolution and complicated biography of a true diva, making the case that, despite her celebrity, Carey’s musicianship and influence are insufficiently appreciated. A pioneering songwriter and producer, Carey pairs her vocal gifts with intimate lyrics and richly layered sonic details. In the mid-1990s, she perfected a blend of pop, hip-hop, and R&B with songs such as “Fantasy” and “Honey” and drew from her turbulent life to create the introspective masterpiece Butterfly. Andrew Chan looks beyond Carey’s glamorous persona to explore her experience as a mixed-race woman in show business, her adventurous forays into house music and gospel, and her appeal to multiple generations of queer audiences. He also reckons with the transcendent ideal of the voice that Carey represents, showing how this international icon taught artists around the world to sing with soul-shaking intensity and a spirit of innovation.
