Sinossi

The Marriage of Heaven and Hell by William is a book by the English poet and printmaker William Blake. It is a series of texts written in imitation of biblical prophecy but expressing Blake's own intensely personal Romantic and revolutionary beliefs.

Like his other books, it was published as printed sheets from etched plates containing prose, poetry, and illustrations. The plates were then coloured by Blake and his wife Catherine.
It opens with an introduction of a short poem entitled "Rintrah roars and shakes his fires in the burden'd air".

William Blake claims that John Milton was a true poet and his epic poem Paradise Lost was "of the Devil's party without knowing it." He also claims that Milton's Satan was truly his Messiah.
The work was composed between 1790 and 1793, in the period of radical ferment and political conflict during the French Revolution. The title is an ironic reference to Emanuel Swedenborg's theological work Heaven and Hell, published in Latin 33 years earlier. Swedenborg is directly cited and criticized by Blake in several places in the Marriage.

Though Blake was influenced by his grand and mystical cosmic conception, Swedenborg's conventional moral strictures and his Manichaean view of good and evil led Blake to express a deliberately depolarized and unified vision of the cosmos in which the material world and physical desire are equally part of the divine order; hence, a marriage of heaven and hell. The book is written in prose, except for the opening "Argument" and the "Song of Liberty". The book describes the poet's visit to Hell, a device adopted by Blake from Dante's Divine Comedy and Milton's Paradise Lost.

Hollywood is indelibly printed in our minds as the ‘go-to’ place for entertainment and has been for decades. When there really did seem to be more stars in Hollywood than in Heaven Hollywood Stage had them performing films as radio plays – on the sponsors dime of course. Classic films now become audiobooks with many featuring the original stars from way back when. Here's I Wanted Wings starring Ray Milland & William Holden.

Gothic Poetry by poet and short story writer Rachel LawsonLost In The Shadows Of The Past
I am lost and forgotten as a living being,
Lost in the grim dark shadows of death,
I live in legend and as a vague memory of life,
I am as I was but am nothing but dust and bone,
A mere curiosity of a life lived, a requiem.
Lost in the shadows of the past, forgotten to time

“Without Decent Restraint” is a story about the duality of man, both the conflict between the mind and the body, and also how the desire to get what we want can put that very thing in danger. It examines whether or not the things we do, justified to ourselves as being done out of concern for others, can actually have a selfish motive. It explores the horrors that come to the surface when a man is confronted with an unthinking and dangerous version of himself, as well as other elements:
    • A world ruined by a zombie apocalypse with a mysterious cause
    • One man’s determined quest to seek out one thing in the midst of the chaos at any cost
    • The protagonist’s desperation growing when his situation drastically changes
    • His adaptation to his new situation, and learning the things he is still capable of doing
    • A taut climax where his love and his strength will be put to the test
The stakes in any story such as “Without Decent Restraint” are always high. However, the stakes for the protagonist in this story aren’t just high, they are deeply, painfully personal. He will soon learn that he may be risking it all in order to determine that his family is safe, and that being dead doesn’t stop him from being responsible for their protection when the moment counts.

Franklyn was born into a gritty north of England town. His expected path through life would have him live out his years in the manner of that town's baseline existence. But it wasn't to be.Perhaps he was pre-selected to break rank so that bigger dreams could be fulfilled. Whatever the prime force may have been, he was to know a different life.Perhaps, too, the corridors of our own reality are flimsier than we believe! On the other side of the wall may lie another path. As Franklyn himself discovers, a perceived reality can be as real as reality itself.

Finally, in printed form, the poems from Louise's BBC3 commission 'Love is a Battlefield' make a wonderful pamphlet
The Uniform Factory is modern war poetry marching to it's own syncopated rhythm.
Anti-war. Pro-soldier. It documents and dreams the after-affects of economic conscription, war in Afghanistan and PTSD. Gallows-humour standing shoulder to shoulder with bitter anger.
The collection is punctuated by landays- a Pashtun poetic form, traditionally spread woman to woman, changing, rebelling and re-mixing in the telling.
Written from the perspective of the families left behind in Northern England
