Sinossi

Although deservedly popular and highly performant tools for building modern web applications, React and single-page applications (SPAs) become more and more sluggish as your applications and teams grow. To solve this problem, many large web apps have started to break down monolith SPAs into independently deployable smaller apps and components—a pattern called micro frontends. But micro frontends aren't a perfect solution, but rather a double-edged sword. This book teaches you how to architect and build them with the right principles to reap all the benefits without the pitfalls.
This book will take you through two patterns of building micro frontends, the multi-SPA pattern and the micro apps pattern. You’ll find out which patterns to use and when, as well as take a look at the nuances of deploying these micro frontends using cloud-native technologies such as Kubernetes and Firebase. With the help of this book, you’ll gain an in-depth understanding of state management, solving problems with routing, and deployment strategies between the different micro frontends.
By the end of this book, you’ll have learned how to design and build a React-based micro frontend application using module federation and deploy it to the cloud efficiently.

A journey through Britain’s first National Park on its 75th anniversary
On a spring day in 1932, 400 disgruntled ramblers embarked on a 'mass trespass' of Kinder Scout, a plateau in the Peak District in northern England. Their aim? To establish a right to roam across the rugged landscape, against the wishes of wealthy landowners.
The hikers were seeking respite from the smoky industrial centres of Manchester and Sheffield – and eventually they got what they wanted. In 1951, the Peak District was established as Britain’s first national park. Home to striking dragon-back ridges of rock, vast expanses of peat, farms and villages, cloughs and caverns, the Peak is much more than the 'howling wilderness' described by Daniel Defoe three centuries ago.
With the 75th anniversary of the park’s creation looming, how has this dramatic landscape fared since? Celebrated travel writer Tom Chesshyre hit the trails on a 363-mile ramble to find out – and to celebrate this symbolic home of hiking.
Wild Peaks follows winding paths, pausing at old inns and mountain huts, and along the way meeting a rich cast of landowners, farmers, historians, mountaineers, publicans, rangers, right-to-roamers, homeless travellers, mountain rescue members, mystics, dreamers and fellow hikers.
Don your cagoule, grab a compass, and join Tom as he explores how the land has changed, and how we have too.

In a lush coastal wetland bordered by coniferous forest, gentle trickles of flowing water weave through marsh grasses, creating a soft, ever-changing rhythm. The lively chorus of Pacific Chorus Frogs fills the air with bubbling calls, while a diverse ensemble of birds brings vibrant life to the soundscape—Pacific Wrens trill from hidden perches, American Robins sing with clear exuberance, Band-tailed Pigeons coo distantly, and tiny Golden-crowned Kinglets flit about with sharp calls. Hutton’s Vireos add subtle melody to the mix, all within a dynamic acoustic space that shifts with the breeze and water movement. This immersive recording captures the rich biodiversity of a thriving wetland habitat, offering listeners a peaceful escape into nature’s delicate symphony—perfect for relaxation, study, or reconnecting with the wild serenity of freshwater marshlands.

    The Quantum Darkness -...

At its core, quantum mechanics reveals that particles at the smallest scales do not adhere to the deterministic laws of classical physics. Instead, particles such as electrons and photons behave in ways that are probabilistic and inherently uncertain. One of the fundamental aspects of this theory is the dual nature of matter and light. The concept of wave-particle duality suggests that entities can exhibit both wave-like and particle-like characteristics depending on the experimental setup used to observe them. This duality led to groundbreaking experiments that demonstrated light interfering with itself and particles existing in multiple states simultaneously.
Central to quantum mechanics is the uncertainty principle, which posits that certain pairs of physical properties, like position and momentum, cannot both be precisely known at the same time. This principle does not imply a lack of precision in measurement techniques but rather indicates an intrinsic property of the quantum world. The probabilistic nature of these measurements means that we can only predict the likelihood of finding a particle in a particular state rather than determining its exact state. Such ideas were not only philosophically challenging but also required a fundamental rethinking of what it means to "know" something in the realm of physics.

A military historian analyzes the ingenious WWII tanks known as Hobart’s Funnies, detailing their development and their role in the D-Day campaign. When the British and Canadians landed in Normandy on June 6, 1944, they were accompanied by specialized armored vehicles designed to remove German obstacles and mines. Developed by the Royal Engineers, these tanks known as Hobart's Funnies featured a range of ingenious innovations, from carpet-laying and bridge-laying devices to a giant 290-millimeter mortar.   Examining these vehicles from technical development to combat deployment, military historian Richard C. Anderson Jr. gives a minute-by-minute account of D-Day's early hours on Sword, Juno, and Gold Beaches—the critical moments when success hinged on the assault engineers’ ability to  clear a path or breach the seawall.   Anderson also describes the events on Omaha and Utah Beaches, where U.S. troops, despite being offered these vehicles, stormed ashore without them. Through careful comparison of conditions and outcomes, Anderson assesses the vehicles’ performance and impact on D-Day's successes and failures.
