Synopsis

The Kama Sutra is an ancient Indian Hindu text widely considered to be the standard work on human sexual behavior in Sanskrit literature written by Vatsyayana. A portion of the work consists of practical advice on sexual intercourse. It is largely in prose, with many inserted anustubh poetry verses. "Kama" which is one of the four goals of Hindu life, means desire including sexual desire the latter being the subject of the textbook, and "sutra" literally means a thread or line that holds things together, and more metaphorically refers to an aphorism (or line, rule, formula), or a collection of such aphorisms in the form of a manual. Contrary to popular perception, especially in the western world, Kama sutra is not just an exclusive sex manual; it presents itself as a guide to a virtuous and gracious living that discusses the nature of love, family life and other aspects pertaining to pleasure oriented faculties of human life.

Devotion to the Sacred Heart is a powerful little booklet filled with many of the treasures to be found in the veneration of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Besides containing an explanation of the symbolism found within the Image of the Sacred Heart, it also includes explanations of the 9 First Fridays devotion, known as The Great Promise, the miraculous cure of St. Gemma Galgani as well as many profound exhortations to offer reparation to the Sacred Heart.
Authoritative and moving, Our Lord instituted this devotion Himself, saying: "I set neither limit nor measure to My gifts of grace for those who seek them in My heart."
In our age of religious indifference, when fervor and charity have grown cold, Jesus exhibits to the world His Sacred Heart as the symbol of God's infinite love showing His Divine Heart as a furnace whose burning rays of love are able to reanimate faith and rekindle love in hearts grown cold and ungrateful.

The Priestly Blessing in Numbers 6, "The Lord bless you," is one of the most familiar and widely used liturgical texts in Christianity. Although often recited, it is not usually a subject of in-depth study.

In this addition to the Touchstone Texts series, highly regarded Old Testament scholar Stephen Chapman provides a detailed, engagingly written exposition of the Priestly Blessing as well as a broader exploration of blessing in the Old Testament. He explores the historical and liturgical use of the Priestly Blessing in the Jewish and Christian traditions and discusses key issues related to the practice of blessing within contemporary Christianity. His interpretation of the Priestly Blessing highlights the importance of the divine name and the way the blessing offers a vision of religious faith as "name bearing." Chapman's volume will be a helpful resource for pastors and seminarians and an important reminder to all Christians of the centrality of blessing to the life of faith.

The Touchstone Texts series addresses key Bible passages, making high-quality biblical scholarship accessible to the church. The series editor is Stephen B. Chapman.

This bundle explores the timeless virtues that define our humanity and guide us in building meaningful relationships with others. By embracing Compassion, Empathy, and Generosity, we can cultivate deeper connections, enrich our lives, and foster a more caring world.
Compassion involves recognizing the suffering of others and acting to alleviate it. This section delves into the power of understanding pain and extending a helping hand, showing how compassion not only uplifts others but also nurtures personal growth and emotional resilience.
Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. This part highlights how empathy bridges gaps between individuals, creating authentic bonds and encouraging cooperation. It emphasizes the importance of listening and being present, helping others feel seen and heard.
In Generosity, the focus shifts to the act of giving, whether through time, resources, or support. This section uncovers how generosity goes beyond material gifts, encompassing acts of kindness and the shared joy of contributing to the well-being of others.
Together, these three virtues form a powerful foundation for living a compassionate, loving, and meaningful life. This book offers insights, practical applications, and reflections on how to integrate these virtues into daily life and become a force for good in the world.

Nine-year-olds Max Sassaport and Ruby Johnson are best friends who can't imagine a world where they aren't together. Unfortunately, no one—not their families, nor anyone else in rural Georgia in 1906—wants to see a White middle-class Jewish boy get too close to the Black daughter of a sharecropper. It's only a matter of time before fate will separate the two. And that day comes on the eve of Ruby's womanhood, when a violent act sends her running from her home to the life of a child laborer at the National Pencil Factory in Atlanta.

Max moves to Atlanta a few years later, still longing for the girl he has never forgotten. He is soon taken under the wing of Harold Ross, star reporter for the Atlanta Journal. But when Max is assigned to a controversial murder case that pits the Black and Jewish communities against each other, he's unexpectedly reunited with Ruby. The bond between them is still strong, but with the trial igniting racial tension throughout Atlanta and across the nation, do Max and Ruby dare dream of a future together?
