Louisa MacDonald was born in 1845, one of eleven children of part Scottish descent. Together with three of her sisters they were known as the ‘MacDonald sisters’ primarily because of their marriages to well-known men.
In 1866 she married the wealthy industrialist Alfred Baldwin in a double wedding with her sister Anne.
After giving birth to Stanley on the 3rd August 1867, who would go on to become Prime Minister, she drifted into an unhappy life in her then residence in Worcestershire. She had at least one miscarriage and days alone depressed and in darkness.
During the 1870’s the couple travelled to find a lasting cure and tried a variety of treatments which led to her recovery in 1883. She now became a leading figure in her local village of Wilden, near Stourbridge.
Her writing career of novels, short stories and poetry is often overlooked, as was the case with so many women, yet her works reveal many talents and a gift for melding odd and weird circumstances into seemingly everyday life.
    Louisa Baldwin died in 1925.

Camp Phoenix is a controversial and expensive summer camp program that transfers adults' consciousness into a clone of their childhood selves. On the surface, it's an ordinary summer camp. Twelve-year-old Logan has come to have a relaxing, carefree summer. She wants to ride horses, make new friends, and she loves listening to ghost stories. Sam is a twenty-year-old counselor, taking on the responsibility of the kids' care by day, and riding the rollercoaster of a summer romance after hours.

As Logan faces the ups and downs of puberty, Sam watches over her and struggles with the bizarre truth: the campers in her care are not kids at all, but wealthy adults immersed in the ultimate escape from reality.

What Logan doesn't know—or at least, can't remember—is that she and her friends will all have to return to their grownup bodies once the summer is over. Logan will again be a successful, middle-aged woman, and the popular boy she has a crush on? He will return to his life as a celebrity suspect at the center of a high-profile murder case.

Isobel Violet Hunt was born on 28th September 1862 in Durham. As a young child her family moved to London and Hunt was brought up amongst the Pre-Raphaelite circle of artists.

As a writer she was comfortable and talented enough to write across several forms including short stories, novels, memoir, and biography. Her novels are excellent examples of New Woman fiction and help illustrate her activities fighting for and promoting better rights for women.

Although she remained unmarried she had lovers as notable as Somerset Maugham, H G Wells and Ford Maddox Ford, the latter whom she lived with for a number of years.

Her collections of supernatural short stories contain much of her best work and despite her considerable talents and literary output her reputation rests both on the literary salons she held at her home in Campden Hill, where the very best of literary society attended, and for her founding of the Women Writers' Suffrage League in 1908 and her participation in the founding of International PEN in 1921.

Violet Hunt died of pneumonia at her home in Campden Hill on 16th January 1942. She was 79 and is buried at Brookwood Cemetery.

Once more Hunt takes a common occurrence, the delivery of a telegram, as the stepping off point for a woman to question whether she should get married, but fate has not yet dealt its final hand.

    Chapter 3: Description
The consequences of Dr. Raymond’s experiment deepen as Chapter 3 unfolds, drawing the reader further into a world where the boundaries of reality are unraveling. Strange occurrences ripple through London’s shadowed streets, and those touched by the experiment begin to exhibit signs of something both wondrous and terrifying.
Visions of an otherworldly presence grow clearer, hinting at a power ancient, malevolent, and beyond human comprehension. Fear and fascination intertwine as the experiment’s hidden horrors begin to manifest, challenging the mind and the senses. In this chapter, the line between the natural and the supernatural blurs even further, and the cost of forbidden knowledge becomes unmistakably real.
Narrated by bestselling horror author Jonathan Dunne, this chapter is part of Timeless Terrors No. 109, bringing Machen’s classic supernatural tale vividly to life, where curiosity can awaken forces that mortals are never meant to encounter.
