Summary

An inscription in the front of a book has unexpected consequences for Adam Craig, the new English professor at Colby State University.
Adam has recently ended a long term relationship. Although the split was amicable, Adam is lonely. Enter sexy bookseller Tony Lucanno, the source of the book with the inscription. Adam has had previous dealings with Tony but the book brings them face to face for the first time. Alas, Tony can't shed any light on the mysterious inscription, which Adam believes is a coded message from an older gentleman to a younger man. To add to Adam's frustrations, Tony lives in Ann Arbor, at least seventy miles from Colby, which makes dating difficult.
Much closer to home is Blake Bellamy. Adam is captivated by the younger man on first meeting. However, their second meeting is in the classroom. Blake is a late entry student for one of Adam's classes.
Adam has a decision to make. It isn't easy. Tony or Blake? Will the inscription in the flyleaf point him in the right direction?

    Narrated by Mara Wilson
Set in the early 1990s, the long-awaited tenth novel in Armistead Maupin’s beloved and enduring Tales of the City series follows the adventures of Mona Ramsey, now the widowed Lady of a glorious old manor in Britain’s golden Cotswolds, and her fabulous adopted son Wilfred, as they come to the aid of an American visitor with a troubling secret.
When Mona Ramsey married Lord Teddy Roughton to secure his visa—allowing him to remain in San Francisco to fulfill his wildest dreams—she never imagined she would, by age 48, be the sole owner of Easley House, Teddy’s grand, romantic country manor in the UK. She also didn't imagine that she’d need to open the manor’s doors to paying guests to afford the electric bill and repair the leaking roof. Yet somehow she and her young friend Wilfred--whom guests assume is serving as Easley’s charming-but-clumsy butler--and the loopy old gardener Mr. Hargis, are making it work.
This delicate equilibrium is upended when Americans Rhonda and Ernie Blaylock arrive for a weekend vacation at Easley, and Wilfred stumbles onto their terrible secret. Now, instead of being able to focus on the imminent arrival of her old friend Michael Tolliver and beloved parent Anna Madrigal, Mona will need to focus all of her considerable charm, willpower, and wiles—and the help of Wilfred and Mona’s girlfriend Poppy, the town’s postmistress and local calligraphy whiz—to set things right before the Midsummer ceremony when the whole town will descend on Easley’s historic grounds.

One man intent on reclaiming his birthright. Another denied his own. The secrets between them should keep them apart, not bring them closer.

The first time someone tried to kill Gideon Winters, his mother took the bullet meant for him. He was thirteen. The second time they came for him, his father faked Gideon's death and sent him into hiding. It's been fifteen years and he's finally out of the shadows, ready to claim his rightful seat on The Council, the secret group of seven with the ability to make or break corporations and countries.

The son of a powerful man who refuses to acknowledge him, André Tesfaye leads a quiet life of monotony that's upended when he gets trapped in a random robbery. André is the weapon Gideon plans to use to exact revenge on the people who took so much from him. Wanting him, loving him, puts everything at risk, and tests Gideon's loyalties and focus . . . Which is a shame, because a battle is on the horizon.

And Gideon has acquired a weakness.

At the age of ninety-six, Isaac Dahl sits down to write his memoir. For Isaac, an accomplished journalist and historian, finding the right words to convey events is never a problem. But this book will be different from anything he has written before. Focusing on twelve different days, each encapsulated in a chapter, Isaac hopes to distill the very essence of his life.

There are days that begin like any other, only to morph through twists of fate. An avalanche strikes Bingham, Utah, and eight-year-old Isaac and his twin sister, Agnes, survive when they are trapped in an upside-down bathtub. Other days stand apart in history—including a day in 1942, when Isaac, stationed on the USS Houston in the Java Sea as a rookie correspondent, confronts the full horror of war. And there are days spent simply, with his lifelong friend, Bo, or with Danny, the younger man whose love transforms Isaac's later years.

From the Oklahoma Dust Bowl to a Mississippi school at the apex of the civil rights movement, Isaac tells his story with insight, wisdom, and emotional depth. The Very Long, Very Strange Life of Isaac Dahl is a wonderful, singular narrative that will spark conversation and reflection—a reminder that there is no such thing as an ordinary life, and the greatest accomplishment of all is to live and love fully.
