  Christopher Columbus was an Italian navigator and explorer who made 4 explorations across the Atlantic Ocean, paving the course for European discovery and settlement of the Americas. His journeys were the first European contacts with the Caribbean, Central America, and South America, and were financed by the Catholic Monarchs of Spain. 
  Christopher Columbus is an Anglicization of “Christophorus Columbus,” a Latin name. Columbus was born in the Republic of Genoa and spoke a Ligurian dialect as his mother tongue, according to most intellectuals. He went to sea at an early age and traveled all over the world, as far north as the British Islands and as far south as Ghana. He wed Filipa Moniz Perestrelo, a Portuguese noblewoman, and resided in Lisbon for some years, but later on wed a Castilian girlfriend, with whom he had one child. Columbus, who was primarily self-taught, was skilled in geography, astronomy, and history. He created a technique to find a western sea path to the East Indies, with the objective of benefiting from the wealthy spice trade. 
  Christopher Columbus has had a huge impact on the discovery of the American continent, and is still honored and respected to this day, despite of the controversies around his behavior and interaction with the locals. Let’s see what these contradicting opinions are all about.

  Douglass's legacy is rooted in his tireless efforts to expose the atrocities of slavery and advocate for equal rights. His first autobiography, "Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave," published in 1845, vividly depicted the brutalities of slavery and its dehumanizing effects. The book became a bestseller and an influential tool in the abolitionist movement. Douglass went on to write two additional autobiographies, "My Bondage and My Freedom" (1855) and "Life and Times of Frederick Douglass" (1881), chronicling his life, experiences, and evolving viewpoints. His writings not only shed light on the horrors of slavery but also provided a platform for him to advocate for education, suffrage, and social justice. 
   
  In addition to his writings, Douglass's oratory skills captivated audiences and galvanized support for the abolitionist cause. He was a powerful and persuasive speaker, delivering speeches that stirred emotions, challenged societal norms, and demanded equality for all. His most famous speech, "What to the Slave Is the Fourth of July?" delivered in 1852, remains a poignant critique of the hypocrisy of celebrating freedom while denying it to enslaved individuals.

  Way more than just a true story, a time when truth became my leveller and my strength, the planer of honesty and sand-blaster of reality... 
  Self-Development requires much more than telling your story. It goes far beyond putting it out there and getting things off your chest. It is infinitely more as it requires a deeper level of honesty than I was used to and it travels deeper within the self than I had ever imagined. 
  For me it was the one place and space I needed to go to and yet, it was a place so intrusively intimate and so emotionally destabilising at times that I more often than not, wanted to run from. Still, I never for one second thought that it would be as difficult as it proved to be. 
  Truth became my leveller and my strength, both the planer of honesty and the sand blaster of reality in exposing the deepest, darkest, and most painful secrets of my past. Experiences that had shaped and determined just how I had seen, analysed, and reacted to the different events throughout my life. 
  A story so dissimilar yet so the same in many ways to the person who might just perhaps, be standing right next to me, a roller coaster of emotions as I dared to journey into the inner sanctum of my personal being in search of the real me. From the earliest beginnings to the present and everything in between when I finally discovered for myself, that the courage I needed to begin my journey of self-discovery and self-development, was right there within me. I just had to be brave enough to reach for it.
