Sinossi

True story of a wee Glasgow guy who left school with no formal qualifications and had many jobs before ending up running a business in Australia and New Zealand. There are many coincidences along the way, including meeting famous people and also people from growing up - some I'd not seen or spoken to for 50 years! And also family who have a habit of dying on certain days. Set initially in Glasgow and moving around the city, encountering many strange day-to-day scenarios and events to ending up on a beach in Sydney and then on to Redland Bay in between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Jobs at this time took me all around Australia and New Zealand with trips also to Japan and four times per year back to the UK for a week for company meetings. Birthdays in later life were special times with my 40th in Glasgow, 50th on the Gold Coast and 60th in Melbourne at the famous horse race. My disabled brother, Alexander, was my hero growing up and still is after his achievements in the world of darts. Read about his exploits and be mesmerised by where he ended up having such a short sports career. My family have been strong throughout and my friends are all wacky, but in a really funny kind of way. If you are still wondering about this book, then just let me say - I would like to thank my parents for the gift of life. And thank the gift of life for me having so much fun. Thank fun for giving me a wonderful life. Thank a wonderful life for the opportunity to write this book. Thank this book for giving other people the chance to enjoy my life.

Buckle Up, Pilgrim: Take a ride into the Heart of Faith with John Bunyan If you're looking for a comfortable, easy read, this ain't it. John Bunyan's words are a fire that'll burn away the fluff and leave you standing face-to-face with the raw truth of your own soul. Think about it: Have you ever believed in something so fiercely that you'd risk everything for it? Your freedom? Your life? That's what Bunyan did. He, and countless others like him, were labeled rebels, outcasts, even heretics. They were jailed, persecuted, some even killed. All because they dared to stand up for their faith. And guess what? The ripple effects of their fight for freedom reached far beyond their own shores. The Pilgrims who landed on Plymouth Rock? They were part of the same movement that Bunyan championed: the Puritans. Their courage not only laid the groundwork for religious liberty in America but also inspired countless others around the world to stand up for their own right to worship freely. This book isn't just some dusty old relic. It's a collection of Bunyan's writings, penned in a cold, damp prison cell. As I read his words, I felt like I was right there with him, sharing his struggles, his hopes, his unwavering faith. Let me be frank, I expected this book to be dry, maybe even a little boring. But Bunyan's words hit me like a lightning bolt. They're raw, they're real, and they speak to the deepest parts of the human heart. How could a man locked away for his beliefs write with such passion, such love? What drove him? What made him tick? That's what we're going to discover together. We're diving deep into Bunyan's world, exploring the timeless themes of sin, salvation, and the relentless love of God. We'll confront the darkness within ourselves, but we won't stay there. Bunyan will lead us to the foot of the cross, where grace and forgiveness flow freely. Get ready for a wild ride. Bunyan's words will challenge you, inspire you, and maybe even shake you to your core. But if you're willing to take this journey, you'll come out the other side transformed. So, are you ready? Let's walk this pilgrim's path together. From Dungeons to Glory: A New Look at the Classics This book is part of a series titled From Dungeons to Glory, which features the writings of Christian authors who were imprisoned for their faith. The first two books in the series are Pilgrim on God and Salvation and Pilgrim on the Path to Eternity, both of which are based on Bunyan's original work, The Riches of Bunyan as Selected from His Works. I hope you'll join me on this journey through Bunyan's timeless words. May they bring you closer to God and help you to live a life of faith, hope, and love.

What happens when toxicity invades a life at every turn?

A 1963 murder leads to a decade-long journey for a son to uncover truths about his family, an American town, and ultimately himself.

In the "Crossroads of America," three active-duty US Army paratroopers commit a more heinous crime than the one they are trying to cover up. Their arrests and trial shock and divide residents of the town between those who see the soldiers as heroes and those who view them as cold-blooded killers.

Author Dan Melchior unearths the story of Rudolph Ziemer, known by some as the "Queer Undertaker." Along the way, he uncovers forgotten often toxic stories involving the Cold War and the Jim Crow south, infidelity, addiction, bigotry, murders, and accidents all woven into the fabric of one woman's life as a laboring silk finisher. The stories link the Civil Rights era to World War II to the march of the MAGA movement and parallel the divisions and challenges facing America today. Journey along with Melchior as he discovers how one man's murder—someone he never knew—led him to a deeper understanding of his family, his beliefs, his country, and his triumphant relationship with his mom, a silk finisher.
