Synopsis

After the Civil War, Ronan Bailey rides north in search of a new beginning. Scarred, he hopes to find peace on the open range. But the frontier has other plans: a violent encounter on the Kansas border leaves him wounded.

Hired by a rancher, Ronan is drawn into a deadly conflict over land and loyalty. As tensions rise and old enemies resurface, Ronan must decide whether to keep running from the past—or stand and fight.

Along the way, a chance at love offers him a glimpse of the life he’s always wanted. But as danger closes in, that dream may slip through his fingers unless he can stop the violence threatening to consume everything he holds dear.

A gritty western rich with frontier justice, THE STRANGER is the eleventh book in the Bailey Clan Westerns series by Terence Newnes.

In a scheme to pay for his endless wars and lavish court, Henry Tudor seizes England's rich monasteries and convents. Thousands of illuminated manuscripts are stolen and destroyed.
Squire Henry Truelove of Cornwall, hero of this novel, has simpler ambitions: to win the hand of his reluctant ladylove, Morwenna. But life takes a bad turn for the squire when his family's estate faces ruinous taxation. Truelove and his friends form a band of "holy pirates" to bring down the corrupt taxman, and to rescue the precious lost books.
This tale of tumultuous Tudor times will especially please readers who enjoy little known histories and interesting language. The narrative is often lighthearted, with amusing repartee. The mission of the Holy Pirates, though, is vital and dangerous — to save the precious books and their own skins.

In a land veiled by mists and steeped in history, The Hollow Vale weaves a haunting tale of fate, sacrifice, and the indelible pull of memory. Velden Nan-once Eadgifu-heeds the call of the Wyrd, leaving behind her daughter, Ethelwyn, and the familiar rhythms of life in Elderglen. Under the shadow of the Thorn Tree, where ancient roots coil around secrets long buried, the Spiral turns, binding past, present, and future in unyielding threads.
Set against a backdrop inspired by the marshes, hills, and ruins of Somerset, this richly imagined story explores the tension between faith and folklore, memory and loss. From the perilous waters of the Wyther Isles, where the sea tolls its mournful bell, to the sacred Isle of Batt, where Pagan shrines and Christian sanctuaries whisper uneasily of the past, the narrative dances between the tangible and the ethereal.
As Ethelwyn uncovers her family's legacy, she is drawn ever deeper into the Wyrd's embrace-a force that echoes through glades where silence breathes, through ruins where shadows linger, and through lives intertwined by the spiral's eternal turning. History becomes a mirror and a shadow, refracted through longing and the toll of unspoken truths.
Evocative and timeless, The Hollow Vale is a journey into the spaces between myth and reality, where the weight of ancestral memory and the call of the unknown ask the ultimate question: How far would you follow the threads of fate?
