Sinossi

An American-English poet, playwright and influential literary critic, T. S. Eliot was a leader of the Modernist movement in poetry, producing important works such as ‘The Waste Land’ and ‘Prufrock’. His work exerted a strong influence on Anglo-American culture from the 1920’s until late on in the century. His experiments in diction, style and versification helped revitalise English poetry, while his critical essays challenged old orthodoxies and forged new approaches. Eliot was awarded the 1948 Nobel Prize in Literature “for his outstanding, pioneer contribution to present-day poetry”. The Delphi Poets Series offers readers the works of literature’s finest poets, with superior formatting. This volume presents Eliot’s collected works, with related illustrations and the usual Delphi bonus material. (Version 2)

An extraordinary play combining English folk tales with modern urban life in a physically and verbally stunning creation.
The Skriker of English legend is 'a shapeshifter and death portent, ancient and damaged'. In the play we follow in its search for love and revenge, as it pursues two young women to London, changing its shape at every new encounter. Along with the Skriker come Rawheadandbloodybones, the Kelpie, the Green Lady, Black Dog and more, till the whole country is swarming with enticing and angry creatures that have burst from the underworld.

Caryl Churchill's spare and resonant version of Strindberg's enigmatic masterpiece.
Written in 1901, a mysterious amalgam of Freud, Alice in Wonderland and Strindberg's own private symbolism, A Dream Play follows the logic of a dream:
A young woman comes from another world to see if life is really as difficult as people make it out to be. Characters merge into each other, locations change in an instant and a locked door becomes an obsessive recurrent image. As Strindberg wrote in his preface, he wanted 'to imitate the disjointed yet seemingly logical shape of a dream. Everything can happen, everything is possible and probable. Time and place do not exist.'
From a literal translation by Charlotte Barslund. Introduction by Caryl Churchill.
'elegant yet funereal and, like dreams, paradoxically serene and fraught'- Independent on Sunday

A visceral new version of Strindberg's compelling, bitingly funny battle of wills.
On an isolated island, military captain Edgar and his wife Alice live a bitter life, their marriage soured by hatred. When the possibility of redemption and escape arrives for Alice in the shape of their former comrade Kurt, it seems that Edgar is prepared to use his very last breath to make their lives a living hell.
Conor McPherson's version of The Dance of Death premiered at Trafalgar Studios, London in December 2012.
