Sinossi

A cynical law student must learn to harness magical powers while navigating a world of gods and monsters in the first book of this LitRPG fantasy series.
Lukas Aguilar does not believe in gods. Despite—or perhaps because of—his deep knowledge of mythology and lore, Lukas has always valued what is practical, factual, and verifiable, eschewing faith for what he can see right in front of him. That is, until an earthquake destroys his home, and he wakes up in a dark cavern infested with bloodthirsty and unearthly creatures, wielding strange powers and hearing an even stranger voice in his head claiming to be a goddess.
Now Lukas must learn to embrace the unbelievable, leveling up his abilities and cooperating with the devious deity in his mind—and fast. Because wherever he is, it isn't friendly, and he'll need to fight to stay alive . . .
Filled with unique characters and intricate world-building, Godsfall launches a captivating series that will appeal to fans of epic fantasy, progression storytelling, and clever spins on classic mythology.
The first volume of the hit LitRPG adventure series—with more than 600,000 views on Royal Road—now available on Audible and wherever ebooks are sold!

Captain Frederick Marryat (10 July 1792 - 9 August 1848) was a Royal Navy officer, a novelist, and an acquaintance of Charles Dickens. He is noted today as an early pioneer of nautical fiction, particularly for his semi-autobiographical novel Mr Midshipman Easy (1836). He is remembered also for his children's novel The Children of the New Forest (1847), and for a widely used system of maritime flag signalling known as Marryat's Code.
EQUALITY AT SEA: The next morning Jack Easy would have forgotten all about his engagement with the captain, had it not been for the waiter, who thought that after the reception which our hero had given the first lieutenant, it would be just as well that he should not be disrespectful to the captain.

"Her immediate concern was money." So begins the first story in Manuel Muñoz's dazzling new collection. In it, Delfina has moved from Texas to California's Central Valley with her husband and small son, and her isolation and desperation force her to take a risk that ends in profound betrayal.

These exquisite stories are set in the 1980s in the small towns that surround Fresno. Muñoz depicts the Mexican and Mexican American farmworkers who put food on our tables but are regularly and ruthlessly rounded up by the migra, as well as the quotidian struggles and immense challenges faced by their families. The messy and sometimes violent realities navigated by his characters—straight and gay, immigrant and American-born, young and old—are tempered by moments of surprising, tender care: Two young women meet on a bus to Los Angeles to retrieve husbands who must find their way back from the border after being deported; a gay couple plans a housewarming party that reveals buried class tensions; a teenage mother slips out to a carnival where she encounters the father of her child; the foreman of a crew of fruit pickers finds a dead body and is subsequently—perhaps literally—haunted.

In The Consequences, obligation can shape, support, and sometimes derail us. It's a magnificent new book from a gifted writer at the height of his powers.

For tourists, the London Eye is a central attraction and thousands queue every day to obtain a panoramic view of the city. But for Kevin, a homeless man living on the river embankment in the shadow of the London Eye, viewing its fairy-like lights through the branches from his home in Cardboard City, it is a symbol of his life going round and round and getting nowhere.
The novel provides an insight into the injustices in the lives of the homeless. Kevin befriends Jock who has an alcohol problem and they are joined by Mahmud, a boy who has run away from home and Monika, a frightened young East European girl who was the victim of a human-trafficking ring and suddenly goes missing.
Kevin visits “The Shelter”, which supplies food and some basic comforts for the homeless. He meets Kate, a full-time teacher who does voluntary work in “The Shelter”. She sees something special in Kevin and wants to learn more about his background but is bound by the rules of “The Shelter”. The story has many layers; homelessness, depression, dependency, general disaffection, racism, human trafficking, murder and mystery. The focus is on Kevin but lurking in the shadows is a dark, mysterious character who is watching his every move. This is a book about loss and love but this sinister character in the background will do all he can to ruin Kevin’s happiness.
