Sinossi

In "The Complete Poetical Works of Stephen Crane," readers are invited into the melancholic and vivid world of one of America's foremost modernist poets. This compilation showcases Crane's innovative use of imagery and hauntingly lyrical style, characterized by a blend of Romantic sentiment and Naturalist apprehension. Drawing upon themes of existential despair, nature's indifference, and the human condition, Crane's poetry often reflects the tumult of the late 19th century, marking a radical departure from traditional forms and embracing free verse. The collection includes his most celebrated works alongside lesser-known poems, revealing the breadth and depth of his artistic vision. Stephen Crane, an influential figure in American literature, is often remembered for his seminal works such as "The Red Badge of Courage." Born in 1871, Crane's life was emblematic of the restless spirit of his time, with his experiences as a war correspondent and his encounters with poverty deeply informing his creative expression. His precocious talent surfaced early, and his ability to evoke profound emotional responses through rich imagery and stark realism set him apart from his contemporaries. This collection is highly recommended for anyone seeking to understand the evolution of American poetry and the complexities of human emotion. Crane's distinct voice not only challenges literary conventions but also offers timeless reflections on life and mortality. Engaging with this complete anthology will deepen readers' appreciation for Crane's literary legacy and illuminate the profound implications of his poetic inquiry.

Since childhood, Janice Whyne has been a words person, writing prose-filled Christmas cards, songs and poetry. She sees poetry as a means of self-expression. A conduit and a safe space for our emotions, feelings and lived experiences. She's a Londoner by birthplace, a Jamaican by birthright, and also regards Indonesia as another homeland.
In Conversation is a personal milestone in Janice's journey of rediscovering her creative self. Along the way, she's ventured into the world of open mics, spoken word and poetry slams; winning 1st runner-up at the Ubud Writers & Readers Festival Poetry Slam 2019 & 2022.
The poems in In Conversation began their lives with a word(s) exchanged in conversation or that captured her attention in something she was listening to or viewing. She regards them as articulations of the said and unsaid; with the poetic voice in them not always hers, but rather an expression of the voice(s) of others.
Readers have described it as unapologetic, raw, poignant, vulnerable and brave: a journey.
"It speaks of someone that feels and loves much for this world, the wonderful imperfect people in it, and the injustices that go on."
Themes of life, loss, love, protest and more are awaiting all who choose to engage in conversation with these poems.
Her poem 'Sitting with Amazing' is part of The Poetry Archive Now Worldview 2021 Winners collection. Other poems have been featured in ‘Coffee & Contemplation: a taste of empowerment’ (2020), Coffee People Zine, Issue 10 (2020), All My Relations, Volume 5, Talbot-Heindl (2023), ‘Her locks unveiled: poems from the Black in White poetry competition’ (2023) as well as in other online and printed mediums.

Wherever you’re from, from whatever background or class, no one knows what goes on behind closed doors. The trauma and abuse I was brought up
with from a young child has made me the person that I am today. It is like a branding iron put onto a developing mind. The scars you cannot see but dictate my every moment, others of you out there will know exactly what I mean. I hold no shame for what was done to me as a child.
It has certainly given me more tolerance for other’s situations because of it. It has certainly made me more understanding. For all my adult life, I have suffered from mental health issues as a result. This itself has made me more empathetic with others. All these poems come from deep within. Some written from very dark places, others from hope and forgiveness, I’ve written many poems when I’ve had no one to talk to. Writing has always been there for me - it has always been my friend.
Forgive those that hurt you for it will only harm you. Love and good luck

    Braveheart.

A timeless classic of love, longing, and the search for meaning, The Sun Also Rises is Ernest Hemingway’s definitive novel of the Lost Generation.
Follow war veteran and journalist Jake Barnes as he navigates the vibrant streets of 1920s Paris and the bullfighting arenas of Spain with his circle of expatriate friends. At the heart of it all is Lady Brett Ashley—beautiful, charismatic, and unattainable—whose complicated relationships fuel the novel’s emotional depth. Against a backdrop of café culture, revelry, and moral disillusionment, Hemingway’s spare, powerful prose captures the emptiness and excess of a postwar world.
Now brought to life in this evocative audiobook, The Sun Also Rises immerses listeners in Hemingway’s iconic style and unforgettable characters. Whether you’re discovering it for the first time or returning to an old favorite, this masterful narration delivers the novel’s raw emotion and haunting beauty like never before.
Experience the novel that defined a generation—listen today.
