Sinossi

Over the course of the last decades, there has been an increasing demand by people for spiritual experience – whether it involves elemental beings, past incarnations or encounters with angels. But how should we distinguish between reality and illusion in such perceptions, particularly when efforts are often focused on instantaneous experience? Is it really possible to build a scientific foundation for metaphysics today? And what role might thinking play in such a truly contemporary spirituality?
There is a tradition, traceable to Aristotle and leading to Rudolf Steiner, that seeks to establish metaphysics as a science. Connecting with this noetic practise, Steffen Hartmann argues that the sure path of personal development begins with pure thought and meditation. Only then, under the right conditions, does it lead to spiritual experience. Through developing our mental faculties to the point where we can properly evaluate such experience, we build a new foundation for understanding the I, our essential core. Self-awareness of the I – in pure thinking – is the eye of the needle through which we should pass. In thought, we can even unite with the essence of the angels. By enriching our thinking, we can access – as conscious, mindful individuals – the realm of angelic beings.
'Angels are messengers of light. In this book the angels themselves are shining their light… in the writings of Steffen Hartmann.' – Johannes Greiner
'The strength of this text lies in its purposeful progression. It is like a guided tour up a mountain that – after a lot of effort – offers a wonderful panoramic view.' – Matthias Bideau, Die Drei

What would cause a proclaimed prophet to run away from everything he called home and dodge the
unyielding God of his tribe? Devoted to an uncompromising commitment to selfhood, Dr. Doug Wheeler
challenges the traditional assumption that Jonah was a miserable coward by examining him as a deeply
conflicted, courageous, and soulful man. With a poetic flair, Reimagining Jonah provokes and confounds
with language flavored by trauma and empathy, producing a richly contemplative and profoundly human
    version of this well-known tale.
“Here is the story of Jonah like you have never heard it before! Doug Wheeler brings to his writing his
long wise years as a pastoral therapist. He knows that every story we tell — including Jonah’s — is thick
with subterranean transactions and freighted with background. It turns out that the story, in his gifted
artistry, is an account of being “born again” in freedom as a true self, engaged with the real world, and
partnered with the holy God who is well beyond all of our idols. Wheeler insists in an inescapable way on
our being participants in the narrative, with an earnest of good outcomes for our role in the story that is as
    contemporary as it is ancient.”
    — Walter Brueggemann, Professor Emeritus of Old Testament, Columbia Theological Seminary

A Demonstration of Nature is an alchemical work attributed to John A Mehung, likely the French poet Jean de Meun (1240 - 1305).A highly influential text, it was originally translated into English by the alchemist William Backhouse, adoptive father to the famous scholar Elias Ashmole who was undoubtedly influenced by the teachings within. The work also found publication in the German alchemical collection the Musaeum Hermeticum, later edited and published by the English occultist Arthur E. Waite and is a must-read for any scholar of alchemy.Jones has included a foreword introducing the text and diligently footnoted the work to give meaning and context to the original writing. If you want to access and understand the original alchemical text, then look no further.

Don’t keep asking God for forgiveness. Do judge one another. And you’re not going to heaven for all eternity! How have we misunderstood the teachings of Jesus? Often His message to the leaders and disciples was: You’re getting this wrong!Somewhere along the way you got confused, lost, way off track. Would He have the same assessment of us today? In Reading the Bible, Missing the Gospel, pastor and author Ben Connelly shows us how to recover God’s original intentions in light of the story of redemption. Connelly helps us celebrate and understand how Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection are truly good news for the tangible situations in our everyday lives. Biblical misunderstandings can lead to a small view of God—but truth overturns that. It expands our hearts for God and enables us to truly love others! Using theology, humor, and practical examples the author reveals shockingly common ways we get the Bible wrong. Connelly invites Christians to see themes and teachings with new eyes—or, rather, with old eyes—on topics like confession and forgiveness . . . what it means to be blessed or happy . . . whether we’re commanded to or prohibited from passing judgement. How does the gospel inform our understanding and answer these questions? Connelly gives readers a new gospel-focused lens that addresses common frustrations and helps them see with renewed hope, clarity, and courage.
