Sinossi

War Crimes Prosecutors explores the development of international criminal law through the lens of the legal professionals who dedicated their careers to prosecuting war crimes. The book argues that these individuals played a crucial role in shaping global justice systems. Readers gain unique insights into the evolution of international humanitarian law, starting with the Nuremberg Trials, which set a precedent for holding individuals accountable for atrocities committed during wartime.

Interestingly, the book highlights how these prosecutors navigated complex political and ethical dilemmas to secure convictions, impacting contemporary legal frameworks. The book examines specific case studies, detailing the strategies employed by prosecutors and the legal challenges they encountered. It progresses by first outlining the historical context, then delving into specific cases, and finally assessing the lasting impact of these prosecutions.

By focusing on these prosecutors' motivations, strategies, and challenges, War Crimes Prosecutors offers a fresh perspective on the human side of international law and the ongoing struggle for global justice.

Captain John Smith (c. January 1580 – June 21, 1631) Admiral of New England was an English soldier, explorer, and author. He was knighted for his services to Sigismund Bathory, Prince of Transylvania. He is remembered for his role in establishing the first permanent English settlement in North America at Jamestown, Virginia, and his brief association with the Virginia Indian girl Pocahontas during an altercation with the Powhatan Confederacy and her father, Chief Powhatan. He was a leader of the Virginia Colony (based at Jamestown) between September 1608 and August 1609, and led an exploration along the rivers of Virginia and the Chesapeake Bay.His books and maps may have been as important as his deeds, as they encouraged more Englishmen and women to follow the trail he had blazed and to colonize the New World. He gave the name New England to that region, and encouraged people with the comment, "Here every man may be master and owner of his owne labour and land...If he have nothing but his hands, he may...by industrie quickly grow rich."In 1614, Smith returned to the Americas in a voyage to the coasts of Maine and Massachusetts Bay. He named the region "New England". He made two attempts in 1614 and 1615 to return to the same coast. First a storm dismasted his ship. In the second attempt, he was captured by French pirates off the Azores. Smith escaped after weeks of captivity and made his way back to England, where he published an account of his two voyages as A Description of New England. He never left England again. He died in the year 1631 in London at the age of 51. (Introduction by Wikipedia)

Ecce Homo is a philosophical autobiography written by Friedrich Nietzsche towards the end of his life. In this work, Nietzsche reflects on his life, his philosophical views, and his legacy. The title, which means "behold the man" in Latin, is taken from Pontius Pilate's words when he presents Jesus to the crowd before his crucifixion. Nietzsche uses this phrase to present himself as a kind of messiah of a new philosophy, proclaiming the birth of a new era of thought. Ecce Homo is a complex and challenging work that has been interpreted in many different ways. Some readers see it as a celebration of Nietzsche's life and ideas, while others view it as a cautionary tale about the dangers of radical individualism. Regardless of how it is interpreted, however, Ecce Homo remains an important and influential work in the history of philosophy. Read in English, unabridged.
