Sinossi

"Classic Logic Rules" presents a comprehensive exploration of how ancient logical reasoning principles continue to shape modern academic thought and research methodology. The book expertly bridges the gap between classical Aristotelian logic and contemporary applications, demonstrating how traditional frameworks remain foundational to critical thinking across disciplines, from legal analysis to scientific inquiry.

The work progresses through three interconnected sections, beginning with an in-depth examination of fundamental logical principles and syllogistic reasoning. It then delves into medieval scholastic developments, where concepts like modal logic expanded the original framework. The final section demonstrates practical applications in modern research contexts, including academic writing and research design.

Drawing from extensive analysis of original Greek and Latin texts, alongside contemporary research, the book reveals how classical logical methods have maintained their validity while adapting to modern challenges. What sets this work apart is its unique combination of historical analysis and practical application, making complex logical concepts accessible through carefully constructed examples and clear explanations.

The book demonstrates how classical reasoning methods inform modern developments, including artificial intelligence algorithms and decision-making frameworks, while providing concrete tools for implementing these time-tested approaches in contemporary academic research. This makes it particularly valuable for graduate students, researchers, and academics seeking to enhance their analytical capabilities and research methodologies.

Rarely has there been a more confusing time to be a man. This uncertainty has spawned an array of bizarre and harmful underground subcultures, collectively known as the manosphere, as men search for new forms of belonging.

In Lost Boys, James Bloodworth delves into these underground worlds and asks where have they come from? Why are so many men susceptible to the sinister beliefs these groups promote? What does the emergence of these communities say about Western society? And what can we do about it? In the course of his journey he meets incels, enlists on a bootcamp for so-called 'alpha males', and speaks to modern day Hugh Hefners using social media to broadcast their jet set lifestyles to millions of followers.

Combining compulsive memoir with powerful reporting, fascinating international case studies, data, cultural analysis and history, Lost Boys is an essential guide to the crisis in contemporary masculinity.

    COVID WARS - America's Struggle...

A sweeping, deeply researched chronicle of the COVID-19 pandemic, weaving together science, politics, and personal freedoms.
Ronald Gruner, with the precision of a historian and the curiosity of a citizen, takes the listener from the roots of virology in the 19th century to the chaotic pandemic years of 2020–2022. The book doesn’t just tell the story of a virus—it lays bare the cultural and political divide that shaped America’s uneven and often painful response.
Gruner’s writing is crisp, and he breaks down complex topics without dumbing them down. The opening chapters—“Contagium” and “The Warning”—build a compelling backstory on pandemics past, from the 1918 Spanish Flu to the eerie predictions of the Bush and Obama administrations.
COVID WARS isn’t shy about calling out failures. Politicians, conspiracy theorists, media figures, and even some public health leaders get held accountable. The chapter “The Divide” lays it all out—how the pandemic morphed from a health emergency into a political food fight. Gruner points fingers but backs it all up with evidence, charts, and historical comparisons.
What listeners will appreciate most, though, is Gruner’s balance. He’s clearly frustrated with misinformation and poor leadership, but he doesn’t come across as bitter or one-sided. The chapter “Lockdowns” captures this tone perfectly. He acknowledges the economic devastation and emotional toll, especially on children and small business owners, while also recognizing that something had to be done to slow the rising death counts. If you’re curious about what really happened, how we got here, and how it could have been different—COVID WARS will be worth your time.
COVID WARS is not just a book about the pandemic. It’s a mirror, and what it reflects is both sobering and necessary.

The Moral Sayings of Publius Syrus, A Roman Slave is a collection of proverbs and aphorisms pulled from the many mimes and plays of Publius Syrus. Enslaved by the Romans in his youth, this witty man went on to conquer the Roman stage. These maxims, believed to have been collected in the 1st century AD, are all that remain of the great playwright’s work. Born in Syria in the 1st century BC, Publius Syrus was enslaved and brought to Rome by an army officer after the Romans conquered his native country. It was in Rome that he was given the name of Syrus, for his place of origin. He was then around 12 years old. This soldier had a patron who was delighted with the boy and requested that the soldier give Syrus to him. The soldier complied. Syrus’ new master found the boy witty and bright and was often entertained with his commentary. With such promise, the master provided Syrus with an education and later freed him. Syrus was immensely grateful and remained friends with his former master for the rest of his life. He took the surname Publius, which was probably the surname of his master.Newly free, Syrus traveled to Italy and began composing mimes—comical farces often used to “represent the failings and eccentricities of the higher classes, and the vulgar language and solecisms of the lower.” This combination of humor and moralism was widely popular among the Romans of the time, and Syrus earned great acclaim as a poet and actor. None of the great master’s plays have survived the ensuing centuries. But fortunately, many of his pithy maxims were collected from his plays, probably in the 1st century AD, and gathered into a single volume. This collection was translated from the Latin and first published in 1856.Included among the 1,087 proverbs are some that appear to be the foundation—or at least an early version—of sayings we still use today. While additional context regarding these quotes would be useful, they still have value on their own. These 1,087 proverbs
