Sinossi

Community radio, often overshadowed by media consolidation, plays a vital role in contemporary society by amplifying local voices and fostering civic engagement. Community Radio Power examines how these grassroots media outlets serve as crucial sources of local news that commercial media frequently overlooks, provide platforms for marginalized communities, and cultivate cultural expression. Community radio stations provide an essential counterweight to corporate media influence, empowering citizens and promoting a vibrant local culture.

The book traces the evolution of community radio from its origins to its current status, highlighting the social, political, and technological factors that have shaped its trajectory. The analysis considers the operational realities of radio stations, examining funding models, organizational structures, programming strategies, and audience engagement techniques.

Through case studies, the book showcases innovative approaches used by successful community radio stations, demonstrating tangible impacts on their communities. The book unfolds across chapters that define community radio, investigate the operational realities of various stations, and analyze the broader social and political significance of community radio.

The arguments are supported by quantitative data, qualitative interviews, and content analysis, connecting to broader discussions in journalism ethics, communication theory, and community development. This comprehensive approach offers a fresh perspective on the agency of community radio in shaping narratives and building meaningful audience relationships.

There were talented and dexterous people living in what is now southern Iraq during the time of Sumer. Humankind's first known civilization arose in the fertile plain irrigated by the Euphrates and Tigris rivers some 6,000 years ago "suddenly," "unexpectedly," and "with stunning abruptness," according to researchers.
It was a society to which we owe virtually every 'First' of what we consider essential to an advanced society:
For example, the wheel and wheeled transportation; brick, which made (and still makes) high-rise buildings; furnaces and kilns, which are vital to industries from baking to metallurgy.
In Sumer, astronomy, mathematics, cities and urban societies, kingships and laws, temples and priesthoods, calendars, festivals, recipes, art, artifacts, and, above all, writing and record-keeping are all firsts. They were the first to record and describe past events and tell tales of their gods through artful statues and statuettes depicted in a devotional stance.
Many landmarks along the road that brought ancient Sumer from complete obscurity to awe-inspiring appreciation of its grandeur bear the names of scholars who made the journey possible. We will mention some of those who worked at the various sites. Many others have assembled and classified fragmented artifacts over the last century and a half of Mesopotamian archaeology to list them all. We now know all this thanks to archaeology and decipherment of ancient languages during the past century and a half.
Epigraphers also worked in crowded museums and libraries to turn clay tablets inscribed with odd 'cuneates' into readable cultural, academic, and historical treasures by converting their persistence, devotion, and abilities.

Family in the context of migration and cultural diversity is rarely discussed at the gates of ideas today. Search Amazon or Google, and you’ll be amazed at how well we’ve avoided this subject. Yet, a happy home is critical to life abroad or anywhere for that matter.
Resident in Australia, Ephraim Osaghae, has taken the lid off several hot migration topics in his books. MIGRATION AND FAMILY is one of his best works.

Scotland's largest city has always been one of the most vibrant, varied and fascinating places in the country.
This new history of Glasgow begins with the river, for the Clyde made the city flourish. From prehistory to the Romans, to Mungo and the kingdom of Strathclyde, it's a rich, quirky and moving story that remembers the foundation of the burgh by the bishops and moves rapidly to the Union of 1707, when Edinburgh lost a parliament and Glasgow gained access to an empire and business boomed.
Immigrants began to arrive: Highlanders, Irish families fleeing the famine, Jews fleeing persecution and lately Asians who transformed tastes. Britain's favourite dish, chicken tikka masala, was invented in the city. Football, architecture, heavy industry, politics and a distinctive sense of humour are all celebrated. Glasgow has never hesitated to reinvent itself – because its greatest resource has always been its people.
They belong to Glasgow and Glasgow belongs to them. This is their story.
