  When Hilenie was a little girl she would sit on her Pappy's lap while he read to her.  Pappy would start out with what sounded like "Once-a- pon-a- time.. Pappy instilled a love for storytelling deep within.her.  Her plots sprang from what her ear  heard as a child.  This love carried into her adulthood and motivated her to write stories, songs, limericks, children's stories, and poems,  She wrote her autobiography in 1949,as well.  Hilenie has a talent for telling colorful stories to anyone that will listen. Thus, The Hilenie and Friends Series is written and told from the perspective of a child.. Hilenie always begins and ends  her stories in a pickle.  She has two sisters; unsympathetic Hinenely and  the suppotive Hilena.. Little Hilenie loves the land of make believe where animals can talk.  Her woodland characters are many times in need of help which require a rescue of some kind.  The  bears, bunnies, cats, cows, llamas, sheep, goats, Bigfoot, and many others live in the GIFFORD PINCHOT NATIONAL FOREST, near Vancouver, Washington, USA.. As life goes on Arlene M Mekel's (AKA) children become her inspiration. All of her stories are based on or written for Rich, Laura, Bit, Linda .and her two adopted kids; Mandy and Lisa.  Each story has a story of it's own; but that, of course is another story.  Her books are especially meant for every caring parent that places a value on wholesome reading, fun entertainment, and colorful illustrations.  The Hilenie Series Books  also resonate with those who respect the admonitions  to train their from infancy  to love reading.  Yet, these Stories not only appeal to the young, they also appeal to the young at heart, Those with special needs. find joy in the artwork.   The case of the stolen penny farthing bicycle. 
  This completely new story I have written involves the 10 year old boys who will be the great detective Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson, his assistant, when they grow up, this is their formative years where they perfect their skills before adulthood on what my appear to be inconsequential subjects, but the principle remains the same. 
  This is just one of an extensive series I will be publishing as audio books in the very near future and I do hope you enjoy this first one, and its only 99 pence, all subsequent will remain at that price as I would not like price to be a barrier to your enjoyment. 
  I have worked very hard and meticulously to provide you with an enjoyable experience, the initial opening credit music which does run to approximately 2 minutes sets the scene, so to speak, a violin Holme's musical instrument of choice and is energetic and the closing music ends the tale on a more restrained mode and only about 1 minute. 
  The story itself runs to about just over 5 minutes and is of course a short story, it is read in my own voice. 
  The story involves the theft of a penning farthing bicycle owned by the son, Leopold 12 years old of the Duke of Westminster, who live in Grosvenor Square London in the late 1900's. Needless to say Holmes solves the mystery with aplomb and goes onto his next case. 
  The stories are designed to be entertaining to children of approximately the same age around 10 years old due to the characters involved.
