THE GIRL BROWNIES – ASHDOWN FOREST, ENGLAND 1919
Book 4 of 6 The Great Forest Rescue
The summary of this fourth book in the series is as follows:
While exploring Ashdown Forest in the summer of 1919, the six Brownies—Lulu, Minnie, Lottie, Agatha, Bernadette, and Beryl—discover an injured fox caught in a poacher's trap. Working together, they carefully free the animal (named Rusty) and nurse it back to health with guidance from Mr. Hawthorne, a war veteran turned naturalist. Through mishaps and teamwork—Agatha's first aid skills, Minnie's animal knowledge, Bernadette's gentle care—they rehabilitate Rusty and release him into the wild.
Their compassion leads to a new mission: joining Mr. Hawthorne's forest preservation project. Each girl contributes her unique talents—Lulu's leadership, Beryl's keen observation, Lottie's humor—to protect the forest's wildlife. As autumn arrives, occasional sightings of a russet fox remind them of their first rescue and the greater adventure ahead: safeguarding Ashdown Forest's magic for all its creatures.
The initial opening credit music, “Joyful Journey”, which does run to approximately 2 minutes sets the scene, so to speak, recorder, tambourine, guitar and accordion in a folk/classical and cheerful mood. The closing music, “Bloom”, ends the tale on with more of the same at about 2 minutes and the same musical instruments etc. but more of an ending feel.
The story and music itself runs to just about 14 minutes and is narrated in my wife's voice, Claire, who actually was a ranger guide!
I do hope you enjoy this audiobook and let me know what you think, there are a lot more to come

This is a story about magic, if you like that kind of thing.

It is also a story about a ghost with amnesia, an unpopular fairy, an ungrateful town, and a wise and helpful raven (who happens to be a pretty good storyteller).

But mostly, it is about a friendly little wizard who lives inside a big hill and really, really, really wants to be a hero.

His name is Gumluck, and he is a bumbling noodlehead.

In this tall tale about a short wizard, celebrated author Adam Rex proves once and for all that the biggest heroes often come in the smallest nightgowns.

The Star Mouse by Fredric Brown - Robinson Crusoe ... Gulliver ... Paul Bunyan; the story of their adventures is nothing compared to the Saga of Mitkey...
Mitkey, the mouse, wasn't Mitkey then.
He was just another mouse, who lived behind the floorboards and plaster of the house of the great Herr Professor Oberburger, formerly of Vienna and Heidelberg; then a refugee from the excessive admiration of more powerful of his fellow-countrymen. The excessive admiration had concerned, not Herr Oberburger himself, but a certain gas which had been a by-product of an unsuccessful rocket fuel—which might have been a highly-successful something else.
If, of course, the Professor had given them the correct formula. Which he—Well, anyway, the Professor had made good his escape and now lived in a house in Connecticut. And so did Mitkey.
A small gray mouse, and a small gray man. Nothing unusual about either of them. Particularly there was nothing unusual about Mitkey; he had a family and he liked cheese and if there were Rotarians among mice, he would have been a Rotarian.
The Herr Professor, of course, had his mild eccentricities. A confirmed bachelor, he had no one to talk to except himself, but he considered himself an excellent conversationalist and held constant verbal communion with himself while he worked. That fact, it turned out later, was important, because Mitkey had excellent ears and heard those night-long soliloquies. He didn't understand them, of course. If he thought about them at all, he merely thought of the Professor as a large and noisy super-mouse who squeaked over-much.
"Und now," he would say to himself, "ve vill see vether this eggshaust tube vas broperly machined. It should fidt vithin vun vun-hundredth thousandth uf an indtch. Ahhh, it iss berfect. Und now—"
Night after night, day after day, month after month.

The Elephant Circuit by Robert A. Heinlein - The exposition was easily the biggest John Watts had ever seen, and he'd seen them all. Yet, besides its size, there was something else strange about this fair–it was just a little out of this world!
Rain streamed across the bus's window. John Watts peered out at wooded hills, content despite the weather. As long as he was rolling, moving, traveling, the ache of loneliness was somewhat quenched. He could close his eyes and imagine that Martha was seated beside him.
