Sinossi

Edge computing is a way of processing information near the source of data instead of processing it on data centers in the cloud. In this way, edge computing can reduce latency when data is processed, improving the user experience on real-time data visualization for your applications. Using K3s, a light-weight Kubernetes and k3OS, a K3s-based Linux distribution along with other open source cloud native technologies, you can build reliable edge computing systems without spending a lot of money.
In this book, you will learn how to design edge computing systems with containers and edge devices using sensors, GPS modules, WiFi, LoRa communication and so on. You will also get to grips with different use cases and examples covered in this book, how to solve common use cases for edge computing such as updating your applications using GitOps, reading data from sensors and storing it on SQL and NoSQL databases. Later chapters will show you how to connect hardware to your edge clusters, predict using machine learning, and analyze images with computer vision. All the examples and use cases in this book are designed to run on devices using 64-bit ARM processors, using Raspberry Pi devices as an example.
By the end of this book, you will be able to use the content of these chapters as small pieces to create your own edge computing system.

In recent years, the concept of smart cities has gained significant attention as urban areas face unprecedented growth and the challenges that come with it. As populations swell and technological advancements accelerate, cities around the world are exploring ways to harness the power of innovation to improve the quality of life for their residents. Smart cities represent a dynamic transformation where technology is seamlessly integrated into urban infrastructure, services, and governance. These cities use data, sensors, and interconnected systems to optimize functions such as traffic flow, energy consumption, healthcare, and public safety, creating more efficient, sustainable, and livable urban environments.
The rise of smart cities is driven by the need to address a host of urban issues that have become increasingly difficult to manage through traditional methods. Rapid urbanization has strained resources, from transportation networks to healthcare services, resulting in overcrowded cities and stretched public services. At the same time, the digital revolution has made it possible to rethink how cities are designed and operated, offering unprecedented opportunities for innovation. In smart cities, data is collected from a vast array of sensors and devices embedded throughout the urban landscape, enabling real-time monitoring and management of everything from traffic congestion to energy use.
The development of smart cities is also closely tied to sustainability. With growing concerns about climate change and the depletion of natural resources, urban planners are turning to smart technologies to reduce environmental impact. For instance, energy-efficient buildings, waste management systems, and smart grids can significantly lower a city's carbon footprint. Moreover, renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind power, are increasingly being integrated into urban infrastructure, creating more sustainable energy systems.

Bond—James Bond. In the 80s and 90s, the debonair superspy's games failed to live up to the giddy thrills of his films. That all changed when British studio Rare unleashed GoldenEye 007 in 1997. In basements and college dorms across the world, friends bumped shoulders while shooting, knifing, exploding, and slapping each other's digital faces in the Nintendo 64 game that would redefine the modern first-person shooter genre and become the most badass party game of its generation.

But GoldenEye's success was far from a sure thing. For years of development, GoldenEye's team of rookie developers were shooting in the dark with no sense of what the N64 or its controller would be like, and the game's relentless violence horrified higher-ups at squeaky clean Nintendo. As development lagged far behind the debut of the tie-in film GoldenEye, the game nearly came out an entire Bond movie too late.

Through extensive interviews with GoldenEye's creators, writer and scholar Alyse Knorr traces the story of how this unlikely licensed game reinvigorated a franchise and a genre. Learn all the stories behind how this iconic title was developed, and why GoldenEye 007 has continued to kick the living daylights out of every other Bond game since.

Aircraft Systems have been an under explored subject in flight academies. The truth is, a pilot must be familiar with each of their aircraft's systems before commencing their initial flights.
In this work, you will learn everything about the basic systems of the main light or small aircraft: landing gear, tires, flight controls, fuel, electricity, cables and control rods, control surfaces, and all the key systems that make up your aircraft’s equipment.
Learning aircraft systems should take place during the initial flight hours for aviation students. This will provide them with the necessary tools to understand what is happening with the operation of each of these systems at all times. A particular skill that will maximize safety in flight operations.
All of us, as human beings, need to understand how our body functions to identify deficiencies and stay healthy. As pilots, we need to understand how our aircraft systems work to identify malfunctions and manage emergencies efficiently and safely.
