Sinossi

Simplified College Algebra is a comprehensive guide that covers essential algebra topics and their real-life applications for senior secondary students. We delve into equations and inequalities, polynomials and rational functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, matrices, determinants, and their applications, functions and relations, and analytic geometry.
In the first chapter, we explore various types of equations, including single-variable, multivariable, linear, non-linear, and rational forms, as well as inequalities. We connect these concepts to practical applications.
The second chapter focuses on polynomials and rational functions, including commonly used polynomials like quadratic equations and related operations. The third chapter delves into exponential and logarithmic functions, covering properties such as graphing, conversions, and applications.
The fourth chapter addresses matrices and determinants, providing insights into their various operations and real-life problem-solving applications. In the fifth chapter, we discuss functions and graphing techniques, summarizing different types of equations, modeling, and graph analysis.
Finally, the sixth chapter covers analytic geometry, including conic sections like circles, ellipses, parabolas, and hyperbolas. With step-by-step explanations, this book makes complex algebra concepts accessible and understandable.

Leland Melvin is the only person in human history to catch a pass in the National Football League and in space. Though his path from the gridiron to the heavens was riddled with setbacks and injury, Leland persevered to reach the stars.
While training with NASA, Melvin suffered a severe injury that left him deaf. Leland was relegated to earthbound assignments, but chose to remain and support his astronaut family. His loyalty paid off. Recovering partial hearing, he earned his eligibility for space travel. He served as mission specialist for two flights aboard the shuttle Atlantis, working on the International Space Station.
In this inspirational memoir, the former NASA astronaut and professional athlete offers an examination of the intersecting role of community, perseverance, and grace that align to shape our opportunities and outcomes. Chasing Space is not the story of one man, but the story of many men, women, scientists, and mentors who helped him defy the odds and live out an uncommon destiny.
As a chemist, athlete, engineer and space traveler, Leland’s life story is a study in the science of achievement. His personal insights illuminate how grit and grace, are the keys to overcoming adversity and rising to success.

People have always been fascinated with the hidden, the mysterious, and the unexplained. Every society has its tall tales and ghost stories, its odd legends, and heroes. Also, every society has its stories of strange beasts, dangerous or benign, that live in the twilight world between the everyday and the legendary. Through most of history, people have been closely tied to nature, hunting in forests and having an intimate knowledge of the animals in their regions. So-called “primitive” peoples were walking encyclopedias of the natural world, and yet most believed there were more creatures lurking in those woods than the ones they usually encountered. Even as the world becomes more connected, the belief in strange creatures continues as strong as ever.
As a result, in one sense it shouldn’t be surprising that people across the United States have reported seeing weird cryptids, including giant birds, sea serpents, wolfmen, and a creature so bizarre it defies any rational classification. The only thing these monsters have in common is that all have been seen regularly and reported by seemingly sober, rational witnesses in the United States, even as conventional science suggests these monsters cannot exist and that all the sightings are mistakes, misidentifications, or hoaxes.
In some cases, this may be true, but in others, it’s harder to accept. For example, one story about a 10-year-old boy being carried off by a giant bird was witnessed by several other people. Likewise, the Gloucester sea serpent seen by hundreds of people and carefully and scientifically investigated, and during one week in 1909, hundreds if not thousands of people reported seeing the Jersey Devil. Sightings of wolf-like creatures walking on two legs have been reported for more than 100 years.
