With staffs that are collectively larger than the Russian army, the Big Four accounting firms are a keystone in global finance --but do they really provide stability and safety? Leading scholar Ian Gow and award-winning writer (and former KPMG director) Stuart Kells warn that a house of cards may be about to fall.

Across the globe, the so-called Big Four accounting and audit firms - Deloitte, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young, and KPMG - are massively influential. Together, they earn more than $100 billion annually and employ almost one million people. In many profound ways, they have changed how we work, how we manage, how we invest and how we are governed.

Stretching back centuries, their history is a fascinating story of wealth, power and luck. But today, the Big Four face an uncertain future - thanks to their push into China; their vulnerability to digital disruption and competition; and the hazards of providing traditional services in a new era of transparency. Surprisingly colorful and unquestionably authoritative, this account of the past, present and likely future of the Big Four is essential reading for anyone perplexed or fascinated by professional services, working in the industry, contemplating joining a professional services firm, or simply curious about the fate of the global economy.

One of the key challenges with all efforts to affect organisational culture is the difficulty of achieving changes that are more than skin deep.
The easy part of culture change is the branding and awareness campaigns. The challenging part is affecting the character of every transaction or interaction that takes place, both within the organisation, and between the organisation and the customer or client. And this is where change needs to happen for culture transformation to have a meaningful impact.
Culture change is essentially a matter of the empowerment of the individual. The challenge is pulling this off at scale.
Using the issue of intent as the golden thread, this booklet eloquently draws a line of sight between organisational culture as a whole and the empowerment of the individual. It provides a powerful framework that ties all the required pieces together whilst maintaining a keen focus on the real locus of transformation, which sits at the level of the intent of the individual.

Life in the ancient ages was not as “easy” as it has become in the last two hundred years! It was literally a very dangerous place to be, and you could get yourself in trouble, or even killed, quite easily and without much effort. The best two inventions ever created by humankind are laws and law enforcement. Without them, we would still be living in a jungle-like state where every one of us would do as he pleased and we would have no security whatsoever. Laws and law enforcement came as a necessary measure to protect each and every individual in society, and that is why people are so scared of wars and chaos, as if these two happen, both law and law enforcement would be suspended, well, at least in practice, which is what counts.
When I got married, my wife was 23 years old and I was moving to a new job, and right after the wedding, when we traveled so we could join our new companies, the first thing she told me was not to trust anyone at work. She said that if we could not trust anyone in life in general, what would we say about work, where everybody is a competitor or, at least, a potential competitor. Keep this in mind while you go through your corporate journey, as it is as true now as it was since the beginning of time.
In this book you will learn: How to deal with a difficult bossHow to deal with colleaguesHow to get promoted without adding any physical effort. How to deal with difficult situationsHow to avoid your boss or colleagues stealing your work creditsAnd so much more.

The aim of this study is to identify and prioritize factors that determine the reputation of insurance companies in Germany and Slovakia. After gaining an overview of the status of the issue through a systematic literature review, the insurers' perspective was examined. The customers' perspective was then examined by means of an online survey, which was answered by 224 insurance customers in Germany and Slovakia. The study showed that other factors often determine reputation in the insurance industry compared to other industries. Based on the results of the study, a 10-point plan was developed that provides insurers with a basis for reputation management in order to eliminate potential reputational risks in advance and prevent reputational damage.
