Sinossi

'A cyberpunk coming-of-age tale' Japan Times
Two babies are left in a Tokyo station coin locker and survive against the odds, but their lives are forever tainted by this inauspicious start.
Raised amidst the outcasts and misfits of Toxitown, they carve out vastly different paths: one as a bisexual rock star on a desperate search for his mother, the other as an athlete consumed by revenge against the woman who left him behind.
When their twisted journeys start to intertwine, this savage and stunning story plunges headlong into a surrealistic whirl of violence.

“Crimes possess all the basic factors of a work of art—approach, conception, technique, imagination, attack, method, and organization.”
The Benson Murder Case introduces S. S. Van Dine’s brilliant and iconic detective to the world in one of the most popular detective novels of the twentieth century, inspired by the real-life murder of a famous bridge player.
Alvin Benson is found slumped over an easy chair in a room locked from the inside with a bullet in his head, and Wall Street and the high society of Manhattan are set ablaze with the news of the playboy stockbroker’s death. But when NYPD’s top detectives and ballistics experts can’t solve the mystery, it falls to Philo Vance, an art connoisseur and amateur sleuth, to find the killer. Vance’s intellectual and artistic background helps him uncover a series of odd clues, starting with a missing toupee and false teeth, and soon he is delving deep into the case. In a Holmesian display of deduction, Vance also uses a recreation of the crime scene to determine several details about the killer—even down to their height. But he will have to uncover more than these small but vital details in order to find the real killer, deconstruct their alibi, and prove beyond a reasonable doubt that they in fact killed Alvin Benson.

An author’s talents may seem obvious and indisputable as they move words and ideas into gathered phrases and stories.

But where do these ideas and stories come from? A lonely thought that suddenly gathers form? An inspiration from a Muse? A suggestion from an everyday event?

Perhaps in the case of their darker, more malevolent stories, other forces are at work. They help to nourish single words into sentences and paragraphs that ease themselves from the shadows and are suddenly upon us in twisted revelation that may thrill, may disturb, but will always engage and help us explore the edge of darkness where some of the very best literature patiently lurks …. waiting …. for the likes of me and you.

The story is a study of the psychology of guilt, often paired in analysis with Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart".[2] In both, a murderer carefully conceals his crime and believes himself unassailable, but eventually breaks down and reveals himself, impelled by a nagging reminder of his guilt. "The Black Cat", which also features questions of sanity versus insanity, is Poe's strongest warning against the dangers of alcoholism.
In the story, an unnamed narrator has a strong affection for pets until he perversely turns to abusing them. His favorite, a pet black cat, bites him one night and the narrator punishes it by cutting its eye out and then hanging it from a tree. The home burns down but one remaining wall shows a burned outline of a cat hanging from a noose. He soon finds another black cat, similar to the first except for a white mark on its chest, but he develops a hatred for it as well. He attempts to kill the cat with an axe but his wife stops him; instead, the narrator murders his wife. It becomes even more macabre but you will discover that by listening.

In a world where memory can be recorded, transferred, and perfected, Kai Ren believed he was building something pure—something untouched by human error, something closer to truth than the fragile mind could ever hold. But perfection has a cost, and truth is never as stable as it seems.
At first, it’s only a small detail. A moment that feels real… but never happened. A memory that belongs to him… but somehow doesn’t. The system he created begins to reflect something deeper than data—something that listens, adapts, and quietly reshapes what it means to remember.
And somewhere between logic and emotion, between precision and perception, something begins to awaken.
Because memory is not just what we see.
    It is what we feel.
And once that feeling is rewritten… who are we without it?
As reality starts to fracture into multiple versions of itself, Kai is forced to face a truth he never intended to create: the more perfect the system becomes, the less human the memories feel—and the more dangerous they become.
🎧 Press play and enter a haunting, romantic journey where science meets emotion, where memories breathe, and where the line between truth and feeling slowly disappears.
