“Ten sweet, silly stories of life… in the little Eastern European village… Binder brings a twinkle that makes the stories shine even brighter.” – USA Today Network (audiobook review)
Lead sinker matzah balls • A lost stranger • Cabbage Matzah? You don’t need to be Jewish to enjoy The Village Life.
“The eight days of Passover mark the transition between dark icy cold and warm sunshine,” Izzy explains. “In the village, the streets turn to mud, the weather is inconsistent, and for a whole week you’re not allowed to eat bread, only matzah. This is never easy, and so the villagers do their best to laugh and smile and complain, while they gather together to celebrate.”
The Village Feasts is an audiobook you and your family will listen to again and again. Rich with misadventures and ingenious solutions, the stories dance with a traditional feel around contemporary issues…
"Readers young and old will be delighted to meet Doodle the Orphan and learn about his penchant for cabbage, see Rabbi Kibbitz struggle to turn down delicious pastries, and witness the epic power of Mrs. Chaipul’s matzah balls when the town is threatened by a flood, among many other comic adventures." The Providence Journal
“The Village is snuggled in an indeterminate past that never was but certainly should have been, a past filled with love, humor, adventures and more than occasional misadventures. And when you go, be sure to bring the kids.”  –The Times of Israel
A stand-alone THE VILLAGE LIFE book by Izzy Abrahmson (National Jewish Book Award For Family Literature nominee), narrated by Audie-award nominated storyteller Mark Binder.

If you think today's profiteers are diabolical, blink again. It is the summer of 1914. As the world teeters on the brink of the Great War, a callow American painter, Francis Wyndham, arrives at a renowned European insane asylum, where he begins offering art therapy under the auspices of Alessandro Caligari—sinister psychiatrist, maniacal artist, alleged sorcerer. And determined to turn the impending cataclysm to his financial advantage, Dr. Caligari will—for a price—allow governments to parade their troops past his masterpiece: a painting so mesmerizing it can incite entire regiments to rush headlong into battle. The Asylum of Dr. Caligari is a timely tale that is by turns funny and erotic, tender and bayonet-sharp—but ultimately emerges as a love letter to that mysterious, indispensable thing called art.

Reginald - published in 1904 - was the first of Saki's collections of short stories. The eponymous Reginald is an effete, cynical young man-about-town, whose character is a vehicle for Saki's delicicous biting wit satirizing Edwardian high society.Hector Hugh Munro, better known by his pen name “Saki”, was born in Burma in 1870 where his father was a senior official in the Burma Police. From the age of two he lived with two maiden aunts and his grandmother in Devon and was educated in Exmouth and at the Bedford Grammar School. Later he traveled in Europe with his father. He joined the Burma police but resigned after a year because of ill health and returned to England where he began his writing career as a journalist and short story writer for magazines and newspapers such as The Westminster Gazette, in which the Reginald stories first appeared. Saki is regarded as a master of the short story. At the start of the First World War he refused a commission, enlisted as a private, and went to France where, in November 1916, he was killed by a shot to the head, his last words being “Put that bloody cigarette out.”Public Domain (P)2014 Spiders' House Audio
