Sinossi

Fritze Lorenz is a blond, curly-haired potato farmer. He wears worn-out, squeaky rubber boots and blue overalls with a large, colorful knitted chest pocket. He is actually a very talented knitter and a clever, but also very grumpy fellow. On his old farm, you meet all sorts of animals, some he has found, some have run to him, and some have been given to him. He has provided most of these lovable creatures with colorful woolen garments. Hen Sonja, for example, wears a cozy yellow pullover dress because she simply can't grow any feathers. The actual boss of the farm, the one-eyed cat Pierre, has been knitted a fine pirate eyepatch. And then there's the grand dame named Schweinenase, who wears a petrol blue pullover. As a brave piglet, she escaped from a terrible pig farm and fled across wide fields and meadows to Fritze Lorenz. And there are many other personalities. Yes, Fritze Lorenz has a big family, and he is loved by everyone, and of course he loves all his friends too. But somehow he has lost all joy of life. Far too much crap happened around him, so that every day he trudges across his yard with a waving hand and a grumpy "Ach!" Until one day something almost impossible happens.

So many of us are leaving conservative faith traditions behind, rightly saying goodbye to toxic theology, bigotry, and harm. But in the process, we often lose our rhythm of gathering, prayer, and worship. We may even lose our sense of connection to God. And we think it's our fault. But spiritual coach, speaker, and podcaster Kevin Miguel Garcia is here with a reminder: "We don't need saving because we were never in danger. We don't need to get found because we've never been lost. Everything we need to connect with the Divine is already inside us."

What Makes You Bloom is a guide to creating your new spiritual practice after your life or faith has fallen apart. When going to church, praying, and reading your Bible just doesn't cut it or outright disturbs you, this book will show you how to cultivate new, meaningful spiritual practices—like stillness, presence, breath, and movement—that will help you overcome the pain of your past and root yourself in the present.

Through stories, insights, and guided meditations, Garcia explains how the goal of every spiritual practice should be about the attainment of peace—about finding what truly makes you bloom. Along the way, you will discover that the smallest changes in your life can bring about the biggest transformations, and that a feeling of bliss is only a few breaths away.

The Zen of IT offers a calm, clear-headed philosophy for navigating the modern IT workplace—an environment increasingly defined by complexity, constant change, and outdated ways of working. Rather than promoting yet another rigid framework or recycled methodology, this book challenges the assumptions that have shaped IT culture since the 1990s and asks a more fundamental question: is the way we work still serving us? Drawing on decades of real-world experience, The Zen of IT argues that popular process-driven approaches have often become barriers to flow, innovation, and accountability. In their place, it proposes a mindset rooted in collective responsibility, simplicity, and professional craft—one that empowers individuals and teams to think collectively, adapt intelligently, and act with purpose. Through thoughtful reflection, this book explores concepts such as flow as the natural life of a problem, growth through struggle, and awareness of one's environment as a means of anticipating change. These principles are not presented as abstract theory but as practical ways of staying effective—and sane—amid pressure, uncertainty, and relentless demand. Whether you are a CEO, an experienced technologist, a project manager, or someone feeling worn down by the modern IT machine, The Zen of IT offers a refreshing perspective: less noise, more clarity, and a sustainable way to work with calm, resilience, and intent. Read this book to understand what an alien knocking on your door really means.

2024 ECPA Christian Living Book of the Year Winner
Ever wonder if you’ve stumbled one too many times for God to use someone like you? Could you benefit from an encounter with God’s unending, unbending, unswerving love and devotion?
If your answer is yes, it’s time for you to see how God’s grace transformed Jacob’s life. And if you feel undeserving of God’s grace, this book will serve as a refresher course on God’s perfect plan to use imperfect people to do great things.
God Never Gives Up on You is for the strugglers among us and the fumbler within us. For those of us who are part saint, part scoundrel; we mean well, but we don’t always do well. We have breakthroughs and breakdowns, often in the same hour. We need no reminder of our failures. But where can we find examples of God’s steadfast grace?
No one is more suited to help assure you of God’s grace than Jacob. He was less a prodigy and more a prodigal. Strong on savvy. Weak on conscience. Jacob took advantage of his famished brother and pulled the wool over the eyes of his dying father, yet God never turned his back on Jacob. And he won’t turn his back on you. If you are ready to start counting on God’s grace and believe he never gives up on you, this book is for you.
