Sinossi

Eight-year-old Mason writes and illustrates his own superhero series, "Invincible Igor." Tonight his goal is to finish book six in the series. But with all the interruptions, how can he? His six-year-old sister, animal-loving Alicia, needs Mason's drawing and spelling skills to make a sign that will keep her "pooping machine" guinea pig safe. And now there is a racket coming from the bathroom, thanks to his youngest siblings – four-year-old twins, Jackson and Jillian. It's a big responsibility being the oldest kid in the family. Will Mason ever be able to finish his book? Or maybe something will happen that will inspire the ending. "Mason and Invincible Igor" is written for read-aloud and for early readers. An art activity, and interactive questions to promote memory recall and emotional intelligence are included. ABOUT THE THREE BOOK SERIES: I was in my classroom when a student asked, “I wonder what my sister is doing right now?” The student’s question made me think about a child’s emerging concept of time: that of being aware of life happening elsewhere, outside of the child’s own experience. Each book in the Sapphire Family Series is told from a different point of view: that of the twins, in "Jackson and Jillian," their older sister, Alicia in "Alicia and Annie," and big brother, Mason in "Mason and Invincible Igor." All three books take place during the same period of time, early evening. Although the books can stand alone, read together they offer a three-dimensional exploration of sibling interactions and family dynamics. Reading a story from different points of view is a first step in thinking beyond oneself. My intention is that the Sapphire Family Series will offer children compelling characters with whom they can identify and grow, and present positive, realistic family dynamics that will delight them.

Karl Barstac has one destination left in the solar system. Mars is closed to him, Earth is locked behind the New System’s laws, and deep space is strangled by patrol nets. Only Deimos remains — a barren rock where the mist-like Martians are said to grant dreams to the lost, and where no one returns unchanged.
He fights his way to freedom with a weapon he spent ten years building in secret, determined never to be taken alive again. But his escape is interrupted by Marian Sayers, the reckless daughter of one of the system’s richest industrialists. She saves him from certain capture and insists on joining his flight to Deimos. Her fascination with the infamous Barstac seems romantic, almost reckless. He sees her as a convenience, perhaps even a shield. Yet on the lonely approach to the moon, as the red planet falls away behind them, it becomes clear she has her own purpose.
Deimos is not a refuge in any simple sense. The Martians who dwell there do not govern with weapons or laws. They work on memory itself. In their drifting cities of vapor and music, old wounds surface, buried childhoods return, and long-forgotten moments take on new weight. For a man who has defined himself by violence, the recovery of happiness may be more dangerous than any prison sentence.
Moon of Memory presses its characters into a confrontation neither expected. Barstac believes he has nothing left to lose. Marian believes she understands exactly what she is doing. On Deimos, both are forced to face what cannot be outrun.
Bryce Walton published widely in the American science fiction magazine market from the late 1940s through the 1960s. Walton often brought psychological intensity into planetary settings, favoring damaged protagonists placed in morally charged situations. In stories such as The Ultimate World and others, he explored the inner fracture beneath outward adventure.

Solitary - When Escape Becomes a...

In a future where crime is processed by machines and intuition is treated as a flaw, one investigator refuses to accept an unanswered case. While others trust conclusions shaped by probability charts and cold logic, he suspects the truth lies in a place no algorithm would ever bother to look. Acting alone, he follows a decades-old escape across interstellar space, convinced that the computer’s certainty is built on a dangerous assumption.
The journey strips away convenience and authority, leaving only a man, a theory, and a question no system has prepared him to ask. As the search narrows, the story tightens around a single, unsettling possibility: that escape itself can become a punishment far worse than capture. The tension does not come from pursuit alone, but from confronting what a human mind becomes when cut off from all other voices.
Robert Silverberg was already publishing prolifically when Solitary appeared, with stories in venues such as Future Science Fiction, Galaxy, and Astounding. Known for pairing speculative systems with intimate human consequences, Silverberg often explored what happens when individuals push against structures meant to regulate behavior. Solitary reflects his early interest in psychology, authority, and the quiet brutality that can hide behind efficiency, presenting a mystery where the most disturbing revelation is not how a man vanished, but how completely he was forgotten.
