Don’t miss the gripping new drama from the nation’s favourite storyteller!
    Are some memories best forgotten?
Maureen Bancroft has never learned the art of putting herself first. As a widow with a gentle temperament and humble ways, she’s been easy to take advantage of.
All that changes when an unexpected windfall comes her way. Determined to make up for lost time, she decides to take a holiday and, needing a companion, looks up her friend, Barbara Hayle.
Glamorous, and with a successful career on the stage, Barbara seems to be everything that Maureen is not. But things aren’t as they seem, and what starts out as a nostalgic trip between friends, becomes something different altogether. Much has changed in the years since they first met ̶ now Maureen has something that her friend desperately needs, and Barbara is used to getting exactly what she wants.
As their journey takes them down some dark byways, will this be the one friendship that Maureen should have left firmly in the past?

In this homage to True Grit, a young woman makes a perilous journey west in 1863 in search of her gold-mining father."...exhilarating and hard to resist." —The Washington Post on Westering WomenAfter their mother dies, Haidie Richards and her younger brother, Boots, are put to work in an orphanage. Their father left four years earlier to find a gold mine in Colorado Territory, and since then he’s sent only three letters. Still, Haidie is certain that he is alive, has struck gold, and will soon send for them. But patience is not one of Haidie’s virtues and soon she and her brother make a break for it. Boots and Haidie, disguised as a boy, embark on a dangerous journey deep into Western territory. Along the way, Haidie learns fast not only how to handle mules, oxen, and greedy men, but also that you are better off in a community. Hers includes a card shark, independent “spinster” sisters, and a very fierce dog. Once she arrives in Colorado and finds out the truth about her father, Haidie will need all her new friends for a get-even plot worthy of The Sting. Filled with vivid period detail, colorful characters, and the irreverent voice of our scrappy heroine, Tough Luck celebrates both the tenacity of youth and the persistence of the heart in the great American West.A Macmillan Audio production from St. Martin’s Press.

🔥 A Revolutionary Tale of Vengeance, Justice, and the Masks We Wear
They came in the night, wearing porcelain masks. By dawn, the aristocracy trembled.
Paris, 1788—A city on the edge of revolution, where the elite feast while the people starve.
When the Duke of Montreuil is found brutally dismembered in his locked bedchamber, Police Chief Émile Vaudrin faces an impossible case. No forced entry. No witnesses. Only a chilling message written in blood: "The Debt is Paid."
As more nobles fall to the masked killers known only as The Syndicate, Vaudrin is caught between duty and morality. These aren't random murders—they're executions. Each victim hides unspeakable crimes behind their powdered wigs and silk finery.
Vaudrin's investigation leads him into the labyrinthine catacombs beneath Paris, where he discovers the truth is more terrifying than any ghost story. The Syndicate is no supernatural force—they're something far more dangerous: ordinary people driven to extraordinary measures.
As revolution brews above ground, Vaudrin faces an impossible choice. Join the law he's sworn to uphold, or the vigilantes who bring a darker kind of justice?
"For the people. The debt is paid."

A majestic novel of Florence Nightingale, whose courage, self-confidence, and resilience transformed nursing and the role of women in medicine

Sweeping yet intimate, Flight of the Wild Swan tells the story of Florence Nightingale, a brilliant, trailblazing woman whose humanity has been obscured beneath the iconic weight of legend. From adolescence, Nightingale was determined to fulfill her life's calling to serve the sick and suffering. Overcoming Victorian hierarchies, familial expectations, patriarchal resistance, and her own illness, she used her hard-won acclaim as a battlefield nurse to bring the profession out of its shadowy, disreputable status and elevate nursing to a skilled practice and compassionate art.

In lush, lyrical detail, Melissa Pritchard reveals Nightingale as a rebel who wouldn't relent—one whose extraordinary life offers a grand lesson in inspired will.
