Sinossi

Some people are just naturally good at not getting rich. They didn't buy Microsoft when a friend mentioned that he was helping start up a new software company. They sold their apartment in Manhattan for a song in the seventies, instinctively believing the real estate market would never, ever come back. These people have built-in wealth prevention systems that steer them safely away from big money even in the most wealth-rich intersections of their lives.
In this book, Robert Sullivan, an expert in the art of not getting rich and staying that way, shows us some simple, non-time consuming ways to cultivate a basic day-to-day attitude that will lead to not getting rich, as well as a few long-term strategies that will help you stay that way. For instance, a good well-rounded education is a must if you are planning on working your entire life and ending up with little or nothing. Choose a field of study that will be personally rewarding but has no apparent application in the real world, such as medieval literature or traditional music. And by all means choose an investment strategy that will definitely not get you rich, such as following the herd. Along the way, spend your money unwisely, read novels and books (a habit that will greatly aid you in your pursuit to not be rich), marry for love, and waste otherwise money-making hours throwing a Frisbee in the park or even playing with your kids, becoming the kind of role model that will never be featured on Forbes's list of the wealthiest people in the world. Sharp, funny, and ultimately comforting, How Not to Get Rich is a guide to happiness without wealth, not that the author wouldn't mind a little wealth with his happiness. How Not to Get Rich is probably not worth the price, but what is?

Bob Nelson, author of the multimillion-copy bestseller 1001 Ways to Reward Employees, and human performance expert Mario Tamayo offer hundreds of practical, creative tips for helping employees—and their managers—make work more fun.

According to the employees that work for firms listed in Fortune's “100 Best Companies to Work for in America,” the most defining characteristic of these organizations is they are all “fun” places to work.

Fun is the secret sauce every business needs to better engage and motivate its employees today. Work Made Fun Gets Done! gives readers simple, practical ideas for instantly bringing fun into their work and workplace. Based on examples from scores of companies like Zoom, Pinterest, Bank of America, Zappos, Honda, Microsoft, and many more, this book provides clear examples of exactly what managers and employees alike can do to lighten the tone in the work environment and allow employees to have more fun at work.

From AAA's “Dump a Dog” program where workers can pass their least-wanted project on to their manager and Houzz's complimentary office slippers to CARFAX's themed-wardrobe Zoom meetings and Google's company-approved Nerf-gun battles and paper airplane contests, you'll find dozens of ideas you can immediately adapt and implement in your own workplace.

Work and fun have typically been considered polar opposites, but this book proves they can be integrated in ways that produce more motivated workers—and exceptional results.

Dr. Pearce's coaching methodology is a testament to his unwavering life philosophy, which centers around assisting his dental clients in successfully transitioning their practices to offer more comprehensive care. His approach is transformative, leading to a significant increase in patient acceptance of full mouth treatment while simultaneously reducing the number of working hours they must engage in. This remarkable shift ultimately yields increasingly greater financial rewards for his clients, as well as offering the best dental care possible for their patients.Through Dr. Pearce's coaching, practitioners discover a newfound ability to navigate the complexities of their profession with confidence and ease. By adopting his proven strategies, they become adept at effectively communicating the value and benefits of comprehensive care to their patients. As a result, more patients are inclined to accept the full mouth treatment, allowing dental practitioners to provide comprehensive care to a broader range of individuals. This not only enhances the overall health and well-being of dental patients but also significantly boosts the financial success of the practice. However, Dr. Pearce's coaching goes beyond mere financial gains. It involves a fundamental paradigm shift from a traditional "doctor/owner-led business" to a collaborative "doctor/leader and team-driven business." With Dr. Pearce's guidance, practitioners learn to create an environment where team members are actively engaged and motivated to contribute to their own success as well as the overall success of the practice. In this new model, team members are empowered to take ownership of their roles and responsibilities. They are encouraged to bring their unique talents and perspectives to the table, fostering a sense of ownership and accountability. Dr. Pearce emphasizes the importance of cultivating a culture of collaboration and mutual support within the practice. By doing so, practitioners experience the extraordinary benefits of harnessing the collective expertise and passion of their team members. As the team becomes more engaged and motivated, the practice thrives. Dentists will find themselves working smarter, not harder, as the burden of responsibilities is distributed among the team. This redistribution of tasks allows the practitioners to focus on their core competencies, delivering exceptional care to their patients while also having the chance to dedicate more time to their personal lives.Through Dr. Pearce's coaching approach, practitioners are able witness a remarkable transformation in their professional and financial lives. They not only achieve a much greater income through increased patient acceptance of comprehensive care, but they also cultivate a fulfilling and harmonious work environment where every team member contributes to the collective success. Dr. Pearce's coaching transcends conventional business strategies, creating a sustainable framework that enables practitioners to thrive personally, professionally, and financially.

Who are the greatest innovators in the world? You're probably thinking Steve Jobs, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford. The usual suspects. This book isn't about them. It's about people who are just as innovative, entrepreneurial, and visionary as the Jobses, Edisons, and Fords of the world, except they're not in Silicon Valley. They're in the street markets of Sao Paulo and Guangzhou, and the rubbish dumps of Lagos. They are pirates, slum dwellers, computer hackers, dissidents, and inner city gang members.Across the globe, diverse innovators operating in the black, grey, and informal economies are developing solutions to a myriad of challenges. Far from being "deviant entrepreneurs" that pose threats to our social and economic stability, these innovators display remarkable ingenuity, pioneering original methods and practices that we can learn from and apply to move formal markets. This book asks: Who are these unknown visionaries? How do they work? How do they organize themselves? How do they catalyze innovation? And ultimately, how can you take these lessons into your own world?

It was Adam Smith (1723–90) who first established economics as a separate branch of knowledge, and many would say his work has never been surpassed. The Wealth of Nations, which appeared in 1776, is the definitive text for all who believe that economic decisions are best left to markets, not governments. At the heart of Smith’s doctrine is an optimistic view of the effects of self-interest. Though each individual seeks only personal gain, the collective result is increased prosperity, which benefits society as a whole.
