Sinossi

Have you ever wondered how to lead your teams effectively? In Foundational Leadership, Robert Griggs shares the story of his encounter with Jack Stack, author of The Great Game of Business. This first interaction changed Robert’s life and it formed the basis for an entirely different way to view leadership – one where leaders led with an open book and were willing to share the ins and outs of how a company was run. As Robert shares, this approach, while unsettling in the early days of its implementation at Trinity Products, completely changed the way he and his team did business. Through the utilization of concepts such as profit sharing, benchmarks, scoreboards, and continuous improvement, Robert has created a company that continues to grow from year to year.

"Children with diabetes can live full, happy, productive lives. I hope my story can stand as proof of that fact."
Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age seven, Wendy Louise Novak had to create her own path in a world defined by stigma, struggle, and hope.
With little public awareness of her condition, Wendy's only role model was her fiercely independent father, who grew up in an era when diabetes meant a difficult, and often short, life. He taught her to "follow the rules" and stay self-reliant. That sense of independence carried Wendy through college to a successful career, globetrotting excitement, and a whirlwind romance with her husband, David.
Wendy built a loving family as she navigated the highs and lows of a condition that was still widely misunderstood. Despite tough times, she learned to balance following the rules with following her passions, saying, "I never wanted to be the kind of person who stayed home and worried about whether or not I could take it, and so I didn't."
Today, Wendy is the face of the Wendy Novak Diabetes Institute, which supports groundbreaking clinical services, education, and research to ensure young people with diabetes can thrive. In this honest but uplifting account of a life well lived, Wendy shares what she has learned, including practical tips for managing diabetes.
With a foreword by the author's husband, businessman, and philanthropist David Novak, Diabetes and Me shows patients and families that a diagnosis doesn't define your life.
"There are always ways to experience the joys in life, no matter what it throws at you."

“Charles Ota Heller’s newest memoir, Cowboy from Prague, is a gripping and hauntingly
beautiful exploration… required reading for a generation that often forgets that the struggle is the
most important part of the journey.”
--Major General (Res.) Doron Almog, Israel Prize Laureate
From the author of the acclaimed memoir, Prague: My Long Journey Home, comes an inspiring account of a refugee who boarded a ship toward hope—toward the United States—where he began a pursuit of the American Dream.
After losing 25 members of their family in the Holocaust, the author and his parents escape a brutal Communist regime in Czechoslovakia, transforming themselves in a single day from one of their native country’s wealthiest families to stateless refugees with all their assets contained in three suitcases. Young Charlie’s father orders him to speak English without an accent and to become a “100% American.” His obedient son complies and, despite struggles with anti-immigrant prejudice and the discovery that America is not the perfect nation he had imagined, Charlie succeeds beyond even his own dreams.
His struggles and triumphs—as a student, athlete, engineer, academic, entrepreneur, investor, author, and family man—serve as a reminder that America is still the land of opportunity, one that beckons to those looking for a better life. Cowboy from Prague is a tender, enthralling, compelling, and powerful story that will resonate with all Americans who, together, make up a nation unique in the world—a nation of immigrants.

‘A brilliant and challenging book’ GORDON BROWN
From the founder of Britain’s leading antifascist organisation, HOPE not hate, this is an urgent call to resist the forces of extremism on the march in Western societies – and how to go about it.
If you’re shocked and disconcerted by the rise of intolerance and hate, you’re not alone.
Drawing from 35 years of campaigning and journalism, Nick Lowles shows how anti-immigration, antisemitic and Islamophobic attacks have proliferated in the modern world, and how Britain – with the likes of Tommy Robinson and the growth of Reform UK – has been far from immune from far-right politics.
From HOPE not hate’s pioneering campaigns against the BNP in east London to the impact of the ‘manosphere’ and the issues in Netflix's Adolescence; from explorations of the pernicious influence of ‘race science’ and conspiracy theory to the interplay of deprivation and intolerance in Britain’s deindustrialised towns, Lowles entwines his inspirational story with hard-won lessons from decades of activism.
His conclusions – which do not shy away from awkward truths for campaigners – suggest practical ways for the far right to be defeated. And he shares powerful examples – from a participant-led youth club in Hull to Syrian refugees connecting with local people over falafel in Bradford – of finding the joy in showing that, hard as it can seem, HOPE can triumph over hate.
In his latest non-fiction work, Lowles explores the social and political ideologies that underpin totalitarianism and organised terrorism. It's a true biography of activists fighting against ethnic intolerance and fascism, making it a must-read for those interested in these topics.

Heartwarming, numbing, entertaining, and informative. I think everyone can relate to his physical evolution from childhood to adolescents, which Dr. Stallworth describes with humor and self-reflection.
By the end of “AreYou”, the reader has a measure of the distance traveled over the years. He shares the good, the bad, and the ugly.
You can learn from it, and once you begin reading, it is hard to put down.
This is Dr. Stallworth’s first book since retiring in 2017, after 45 years of medical practice as an anesthesiologist in Los Angeles, and he has pursued his passion for writing since 2017.

Ousted from power by the French army on April 11, 2011, following the disputed presidential election in Côte d'Ivoire of November 2010, Laurent Gbagbo was charged with crimes against humanity before the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, on December 5, 2011.

This book, written from 2012 onwards, thanks to numerous prison visits and interviews, is the only one to have been produced with the participation of the Ivorian president during his incarceration and trial.
This unique testimony is more than ever a document for history, because it sheds light on the manipulations of the 2010 elections, the collusion between Nicolas Sarkozy's France and the ICC to get rid of Laurent Gbagbo, and the stalling tactics and maneuvers that marred "Gbagbogate."
Over meetings with François Mattei, Laurent Gbagbo looks back on his seven years in prison, explains what they mean and shares his vision for the future—that of a free man, come what may.

Considering that her film career lasted just six years, it would seem as though the reputation of Grace Kelly far outweighs her actual output. Indeed, from the time of her arrival in Hollywood in 1951 through her final film, High Society, in 1956, Kelly acted in just 11 films, leaving viewers to wonder whether Kelly was still in the beginning of her career or whether High Society was a proper culmination to an extraordinarily brief stay in the film industry? Ultimately, it is might be most accurate to state that Kelly was still in the prime of her career, but it’s unclear what direction her career would have taken, as well as who inherited the void she left.
Ingrid Bergman’s fame cannot be doubted, but the international quality of her career has prevented most people from gaining a complete understanding of her filmography. Moreover, the immense success of her most famous films obscured her other achievements; one of Bergman’s persistent lamentations late in her career was that even though she appeared in other films she deemed more significant, the only film of hers that people wanted to discuss was Casablanca.
Although Fontaine and de Havilland would make history by becoming the only sisters to both win an Academy Award for Best Actress, that anecdote was just one of the various stories about the siblings that has shed light on their notoriously contentious and complicated relationship. As Fontaine once put it, “I married first, won the Oscar before Olivia did, and if I die first, she'll undoubtedly be livid because I beat her to it!"
Kim Novak’s most famous role was as one of Alfred Hitchcock’s legendary “icy blondes” in Vertigo (1958), beguiling Jimmy Stewart’s character to the point of madness in what is widely considered one of the greatest films ever made. The girl who originally wanted to be an artist reached the upper echelon of Hollywood itself before she had even turned 30.
