  What Should We No! is a 28-minute Art Performance Piece…an emotional roller coaster laced with rap and bluegrass music, performance poetry, personal reflections from my own school days in Beverly Hills and UC Berkeley in the '60s along with poignant tales of being a Poet/Substitute Teacher in the inner-city school districts of LA and San Francisco. And that’s just a sampling of the journey awaiting the listener who becomes a part of the action through a variety of sound effects featuring 7 other voice actors.   
  This piece was adapted from a solo Theatrical Performance that premiered at The Ensemble Studio Theatre LA in 1988.

  In order to understand "vision", we have to look into concepts of blindness, both diegetically in typical film characters and in the representation of sight or lack thereof. A critical-historical investigation into theories of vision shows that the way we understand visuality today – scientifically and culturally – is very different from pre-modern notions and practices.
  In this book, Dago Schelin questions categories such as active and passive vision, tactile visuality, as well as blind vision, and discusses them alongside a variety of movies that deal with vision and blindness.
  Is there a connection between the filmmaker's gaze and an older pre-Keplerian ontology of vision? What is the role of sound in vision? Are our eyes mere camcorders or might they be projectors? These and other questions comprise the fascinating journey on which this study embarks.

  Originally created by the legendary Dashiell Hammett, Sam Spade’s move from pulp-book thriller to airwave legend seemed an easy journey. 
   
  Sam Spade, played by Howard Duff, was a sharp-talking L. A. based private detective who’s first question usually revolved about how much moola, how much cash, you were carrying. If it was a phone call this was usually accompanied by a desk drawer opening and a liquor bottle being summoned for duty. 
   
  The owner of License number 137596, had a way of not telling the police all the news.  His humor was tongue in cheek and the plots could put a corkscrew to shame.  The characters who came into contact with Sam Spade, Detective were either very glad they had or rather wished they hadn’t.   
   
  If you wanted results in the tightest of corners you had one choice; Sam Spade, Detective.  Let’s see what he’s up to. 
   
  We like to think we always have choices.  Sometimes we only need one.   
   
  Let’s get back and into action with Sam Spade’s next adventure.

  Born in 1912, in a small town in Wyoming, Jackson Pollock embodied the American dream as the country found itself confronted with the realities of a modern era replacing the fading nineteenth century. Pollock left home in search of fame and fortune in New York City. Thanks to the Federal Art Project he quickly won acclaim, and after the Second World War became the biggest art celebrity in America. For De Kooning, Pollock was the “icebreaker”. For Max Ernst and Masson, Pollock was a fellow member of the European Surrealist movement. And for Motherwell, Pollock was a legitimate candidate for the status of the Master of the American School. During the many upheavals in his life in Nez York in the 1950s and 60s, Pollock lost his bearings - success had simply come too fast and too easily. It was during this period that he turned to alcohol and disintegrated his marriage to Lee Krasner. His life ended like that of 50s film icon James Dean behind the wheel of his Oldsmobile, after a night of drinking.
