In our journey we’ll explore Einstein and Newton who were probably aliens (he said jokingly), the Roman Empire, British history and all those wives of King Henry VIII, the why and how of the Protestant Reformation, why Pluto lost its planet status in our solar system, what exactly is the sweet spot of a solar system, all the while digging up some archeology, and even paying a visit with Dr. Livingstone, I presume. We’ll trudge from the top of Everest, the highest point on Earth, to the bottom of the Mariana Trench, the lowest point on Earth, and LUA in between, the Last Universal Ancestor that gave rise to all life on Earth.

  The Tashkent-born Russian-American literary critic, editor, essayist, and journalist Vladislav Davidzon has been covering post-Soviet Ukraine for the past ten years, a tumultuous time for that country and the surrounding world.   Schizophrenia is a complex and often misunderstood mental health disorder that affects a person’s thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. It is characterized by episodes of psychosis, which can include hallucinations, delusions, disorganized thinking, and impaired social functioning. While schizophrenia is a chronic condition, with proper treatment and support, many individuals can manage their symptoms and lead fulfilling lives. 
  Schizophrenia does not manifest in the same way for everyone. Some individuals may experience severe and persistent symptoms, while others may have periods of stability with occasional relapses. The disorder typically emerges in late adolescence or early adulthood, although it can develop later in life. Early detection and intervention are crucial in improving long-term outcomes. 
  There are several subtypes of schizophrenia, each presenting with different symptom patterns. Paranoid schizophrenia, once considered a distinct type, involves intense delusions and auditory hallucinations, often revolving around themes of persecution. Disorganized schizophrenia is marked by disorganized speech, erratic behavior, and difficulty with daily activities. Catatonic schizophrenia presents with extreme motor disturbances, including periods of excessive movement or complete immobility. While these classifications have evolved in recent psychiatric frameworks, they still help in understanding the diverse ways schizophrenia can manifest.

  Kingdoms of Israel and Judah...

  Before any type of unified political entity named Israel existed, the Jewish groups whose descendants would later form Israel identified themselves by their particular tribe. If asked their nationality or country of origin, they would likely identify themselves as Danites (from the tribe of Dan; Ex. 31:6) or Ephraimites (from the tribe of Ephraim; Judg. 12:5), etc. The main way to differentiate these tribes from other tribes in Canaan was their common worship of the deity YHWH, but in terms of language or other cultural characteristics, it would have been difficult to tell a Canaanite from an Israelite.  
  	Eventually, these separate tribes united together as a type of confederation, allies who made a treaty (covenant) to provide military aid for one another when threatened by an enemy state. But it was only under the charismatic leadership of David that the 12 tribes united into a single political entity. Scholars refer to the period encompassing the reign of David and his son Solomon as the United Monarchy. This period, spanning only two generations, was the only time when all of the tribes were politically united, and after a contentious schism that resulted because the northern tribes felt exploited by the Judean kings, the northern tribes seceded from the “United Kingdom” and reverted back to the ancient northern versus southern division of the tribes. The main difference this time was that the southern kingdom now incorporated the tribe of Benjamin, located at the border between these two new nations, within its political borders. The tribe of Simeon (south of Judah) had already ceased to maintain a separate existence. The new northern kingdom adopted the name Israel, while the southern kingdom took their regional name of Judah.
