  George Stephenson - His...

  George Stephenson was a British civil and mechanical engineer who lived from June the 9th 1781 to August the 12th 1848. Stephenson, called the "Dad of Railways," was regarded by Victorians as a great example of exertion and a desire to enhance. Samuel Smiles, a self-help supporter, applauded his achievements in particular. The four feet eight +12 inches (1.435 m) basic gauge used by the majority of the world's trains is based upon his chosen rail gauge, at times described as 'Stephenson gauge.' 
  Rail transport, which was created by Stephenson and was a crucial element of the Industrial Revolution, was just one of the most essential innovative developments of the nineteenth century. The Mobility No. 1 was the first steam engine to transport guests on a public railway, the Stockton and Darlington Train, in 1825. It was built by George and his child Robert's company, Robert Stephenson & Business. The Liverpool and Manchester Train, which opened in 1830, was the world's first public inter-city train path to use engines.

It's from parts of my life that I've treasured. Especially with my relatives that I didn't know because we lived so far away, 550 miles away, from Indiana to Iowa. I loved our family vacations. You will find some stories from the bible. I hope you will see how important that book is to me. I have trouble every day. but I know He's in my life and without Him, I would not live. I know you have times when you've needed help. For a while, I couldn't even pray. I knew better but I had lost hope. I've had such help from the Veterans. I have friends now. And I trust those whom I know will be O.K. Please read the Biblical stories thoughtfully. They are scriptures passed down from six or seven thousand years ago.

  The Austrian writer Joseph Roth's first novel, 'Das Spinnennetz', 1923, intensely chronicles the development of a fascist and the first steps in his rise to power. It is a vivid portrait of the nationalist fervor and the struggle between Right and Left in Germany during the years immediately following the end of the Great War, or First World War. Two days after its serial publication in the Vienna Arbeiterzeitung ('The Worker'), Adolf Hitler and General Erich Ludendorff set in motion the Munich 'Beer Hall Putsch'. 'The Spiderweb' - here translated by the narrator - is a prophetic look into the political machinery that was to force its author into exile in France ten years later, where he died in 1939 at the age of 45.
