Sinossi

The celebrated Renaissance chronicler Raphael Holinshed produced a comprehensive history of the British Isles in collaboration with several others. The ‘Chronicles’ was compiled uncritically from many sources of varying degrees of trustworthiness. It provided a valuable repertory of historical information that was not readily available to the majority of Tudor readers. The Elizabethan dramatists drew heavily from Holinshed’s pages, which in turn helped change the course of English literature. This eBook presents Holinshed’s complete works, with numerous illustrations, rare texts, a concise introduction and the usual Delphi bonus material. (Version 1)

* Beautifully illustrated with images relating to Holinshed’s life and works* Concise introduction to the text* All of the Chronicles, based on Sir Henry Ellis’ 1807 text* Excellent formatting of the texts* Easily locate the chapters you want to read with contents tables* Features a bonus biography* A special hyperlinked ‘Glossary of Elizabethan Language’ to aid your studies* Ordering of texts into genres

Peru is a land of majesty and wonder where myth, legend, and history all come together. And this audiobook gives you a front-row seat!
The land of Peru is one that, for many, seems far away and distant. Even for those living relatively nearby geographically, Peru can seem just out of reach. After all, Peru is situated high in the Andes on the western coast of South America. Those who dare to live at this high of an elevation have learned to live on their own terms.
The Inca leader Manco II, for example, displayed his tenacity by heading a rebel kingdom in the depths of the Amazon even after much of the Inca Empire of his ancestors had been overrun by the Spanish conquistadors.
Manco’s struggle was later picked up by Túpac Amaru II, who waged war against the Spanish occupation. Túpac Amaru II would be captured and executed for daring to revolt against the Spanish Crown, but his legend would live on in the hearts and minds of Peruvians everywhere.
Fast forward to Peru’s independence from Spain, and one finds the heroic Simón Bolívar. He was pivotal in the independence of Peru, as well as a whole slew of Latin American countries, which he was put in charge of at various times during his dynamic career.
Great heroes like Simón Bolívar certainly stand out, but so do other intriguing and captivating characters from Peru’s past. From the great Inca ruler Atahualpa to Francisco Pizarro to modern-day Peruvian presidents like Alberto Fujimori and Dina Boluarte, Peru has quite a story to tell!
In this audiobook, you will learn about the following:The origins of Peruvian civilizationThe rise and fall of the Inca EmpireThe explorations of conquistadors like Francisco PizarroRevolutionaries like Túpac Amaru II and resistance to Spanish rulePeru’s struggle for independence

Henry Lee learnt to ride before he was five, joined Washington's Army at nineteen, and was appointed Captain of the Fifth Troop of Virginia Dragoons at twenty. At twenty-two, Colonel Lee took command of a mixed cavalry and infantry unit known as "Lee's Legion"—the finest offensive team in the Continental Army. Nicknamed "Light-Horse Harry" for his raids on British supply wagons, the young Virginian quickly earned a reputation for horsemanship and distinguished himself as one of the most skilled and courageous cavalry officers of the American Revolution.

After the war Lee served in the Virginia legislature, in Congress, in the Virginia Convention of 1788 that ratified the federal Constitution, and as governor of the state. His political career was interrupted while he commanded the Army to put down the Whiskey Rebellion in 1794. From 1799 to 1801 he served in the House of Representatives.

Noel B. Gerson charts the triumphs and tragedies of one of the nation's most distinguished citizens, whose rise to fame was overshadowed by bankruptcy, imprisonment, and injuries he received from an angry mob. Drawing on a wealth of contemporary sources, including private correspondence and Lee's own published memoirs, Gerson masterfully portrays a dedicated patriot and natural-born soldier, a trait he passed on to his son, General Robert E. Lee.

Humanity has been given the unique capacity for developing higher consciousness. In “Where in the World is God”, I observe the life of humanity in the culture of today’s world, and assess the most energetic movements of the Universe being lived out through humanity. These movements reflect the current consciousness of humanity.
The book is compiled of three parts. Part 1 traces the development of religion, its encounter with science, and the later merging of both with psychology at the point of consciousness. Part 2 examines the most energetic movements of the Universe being lived out through humanity today. Part 3 draws together the findings explored in Part 2, teasing out the main “living ideas” that appear throughout the chapters. This section is more philosophical, reflecting on deeper movements within the ideas, choices, actions and processes of humanity as a whole.

'The people want' - thus began the slogans chanted by millions of protesters in 2011 in what was dubbed the 'Arab Spring'. ?While the protests revealed a long-suppressed craving for democracy, they also laid bare a deep structural crisis. In this landmark work, Middle East analyst Gilbert Achcar examines the socio-economic roots and political dynamics of the regional upheaval. He assesses the peculiarities of the region's states and regimes, and sheds light on the movements that use Islam as a political banner. Achcar argues that the Arab Spring was but the beginning of a long-term revolutionary process - a perspective confirmed by a second wave of uprisings in 2019 - and outlines the requirements for a solution to the crisis. This new edition features a preface drawing a balance sheet of the upheaval's first decade.
