Sinossi

⚖️ What is justice? Who should rule? What makes a perfect society?

In Republic, Plato—the father of Western philosophy—lays out his vision for an ideal state in one of the most important and enduring works of political thought in human history. Through the dialogues of Socrates, this masterpiece examines the meaning of justice, the nature of the soul, the role of education, and the foundations of a just society.

🏛️ A timeless blueprint for thinking about ethics, power, and the human condition.
As Socrates debates with fellow Athenians, readers are drawn into deep questions that remain as vital today as they were in ancient Greece: Who should govern? Can truth and power coexist? Is democracy the best form of government—or the most dangerous?

📚 Part philosophy, part political theory, part psychological study.
Plato's Republic introduces ideas such as the philosopher-king, the Allegory of the Cave, and the Tripartite Soul—concepts that continue to shape political philosophy, psychology, and literature today.

🌟 What Scholars and Readers Say:
"The Republic is not only the cornerstone of Western political thought—it's a mirror we still hold up to our world." — The Guardian

How We Think is a seminal work by the American philosopher and educator John Dewey, first published in 1910. The book explores the process of human thought and inquiry, examining how we develop ideas and knowledge, and how we use critical thinking and problem-solving to make sense of the world around us.
Dewey's approach emphasizes the importance of experience and reflection in the process of learning and thought. He argues that our thinking is influenced by our past experiences and that we must reflect on those experiences in order to form new ideas and perspectives. He also advocates for a scientific approach to inquiry, emphasizing the importance of observation, experimentation, and testing in the development of knowledge.
In How We Think, Dewey also introduces his ideas on experimentalism and pragmatism, arguing that knowledge must be grounded in experience and that theories and ideas must be tested through practical application. He discusses the role of logic and critical thinking in this process, and the importance of education in fostering these skills.
How We Think is a groundbreaking work in the fields of philosophy, education, and psychology, and remains relevant today for its insights into the nature of human thought and learning

    First Crusade The: The History...

Of the many campaigns during the Middle Ages, few are as remarkable or seemingly impossible to win at the start as the First Crusade (1095-99), and the true crowning achievement of that crusade, which resulted in two centuries of Western European Christian states in the Middle East and the permanent firing of the European imagination, was the conquest of Jerusalem on July 15, 1099 after three weeks of siege. That victorious siege came four years after the call for a crusade first went out, and had the Crusaders not taken Jerusalem, the First Crusade would not likely have been followed by any more and the campaign might have been no more than an historical footnote of what could have been.
As it turned out, the siege of Jerusalem and the crusade as a whole says much about the first major clash of Western and Eastern military tactics after the fall of the Roman Empire, as well as the power of faith and even fanaticism to motivate people beyond ordinary human endurance. For better and worse, the siege and fall of Jerusalem to the Crusaders has become a fundamental piece in the current view of the West in that part of the world. Indeed, to this day, the First Crusade remains a polarizing event, even among modern historians. For some, the Crusaders were heroes and saints, and for others they were devils who disrupted the peaceful local sects of Muslims, Jews, and Christians, establishing an alien colony that heralded modern European imperialism. In fact, the First Crusade is a good example of why it is unwise to choose sides in history, because neither side was correct and the situation was highly complex.
Though it went largely unremarked in the Islamic world at the time, the First Crusade has since become a contentious symbol of European imperialism in the Middle East. Debate over whether the Crusades can truly be perceived as an early example of European colonialism continues in medieval historiography, though the evidence for this is thin.
