Sinossi

Plato's "The Complete Works" presents a comprehensive anthology of his philosophical dialogues that shaped Western thought. Through a rich tapestry of forms, including Socratic dialogues, myths, and allegories, Plato explores profound themes such as justice, the ideal state, knowledge, love, and the essence of reality. This collection showcases his innovative use of dialectic method and his Allegory of the Cave, often regarded as a metaphor for human enlightenment. The literary style reflects a blend of rigor and artistry, illuminating the philosophical inquiries of Plato's time while establishing a timeless dialogue with future generations. Plato (c. 428/427–348/347 BCE) was not only a student of Socrates but also the teacher of Aristotle, making him a pivotal figure in the development of Western philosophy. His diverse experiences as a thinker, politician, and educator deeply influenced his writing. Living during the tumultuous period of post-Socratic Athens, Plato witnessed firsthand the complexities of human nature and governance, which provided rich material for his philosophical inquiries and critiques of culture. This essential compilation of Plato's works is highly recommended for anyone seeking to understand the foundations of Western philosophy. It invites readers to engage with Plato's perennial questions and stimulates critical thought, making it indispensable for scholars, students, or anyone introspecting on the nature of truth and existence.

The Nok civilization is one of the most fascinating and mysterious ancient cultures of West Africa. It flourished between approximately 1500 BCE and 500 CE, making it one of the earliest known complex societies in sub-Saharan Africa. The Nok people are best known for their remarkable terracotta sculptures, which provide valuable insights into their artistry, beliefs, and way of life. Despite their historical significance, much about the Nok civilization remains unknown, leaving archaeologists and historians to piece together their story from scattered artifacts and excavation sites.
The first discovery of Nok artifacts occurred in 1928, when British archaeologist Bernard Fagg came across a series of terracotta figurines in central Nigeria. These artifacts, found near the village of Nok, revealed an advanced artistic style that was distinct from any previously known African culture. The sculptures depicted human figures with intricate hairstyles, elaborate jewelry, and expressive facial features, suggesting a highly developed artistic tradition. This discovery marked the beginning of a deeper exploration into the Nok civilization, leading to further excavations that uncovered tools, pottery, and evidence of early ironworking.
One of the most significant aspects of Nok’s discovery was its role in the history of metallurgy in Africa. Archaeological findings suggest that the Nok people were among the earliest in West Africa to practice iron smelting, a technological advancement that contributed to agricultural development and societal growth. The presence of iron tools indicates that they engaged in farming, hunting, and trade, supporting the idea that Nok society was well-organized and economically active.

“What happens after we die? What is the Afterlife really like? From her own perspective, Echo shares intimate insights that she has garnered from Spirit about life after death. This book is compelling, thought-provoking, and comforting.”—Chip Coffey, costar, Kindred SpiritsA Psychic's Exploration of Ghosts and How to Prevent It from Happening to You"Echo Bodine is the most genuine psychic I have ever worked with..." —Dennis William Hauck, author of Haunted PlacesWell-known psychic and ghost hunter, Echo Bodine, started seeing spirits as a young girl and has been helping to set them free for decades. Most of these spirits have one thing in common—unfinished business from their lives that leaves them restless, unable to let go and move on. Some souls choose to remain closer to this dimension rather than move into the light when they die. Here, Bodine shares her experiences and compelling investigations that have led her to see the issues from a spirit's living time on Earth which have left them restless and unable to cross over. Each story is accompanied by an exercise that will help the reader avoid the fate of a trapped, angry, or unprepared soul. Some reasons spirits haven't gone through the light include:They don't know they're dead. They are afraid of what could be waiting for them on the other side. They don't believe in an afterlife so they’re stuck in limbo. They are possessive over a person or object. They are terrified of change. How To Live a Happily Ever Afterlife is an eye-opening look at spirits—at what compels and holds them—and what you can do to avoid the same fate.
