Sinossi

Charlie Walden is the Resident Judge of the Bermondsey Crown Court, where he had hoped for a quiet life, but has found it to be anything but. With the job of balancing the needs of prosecutors, judges, 'Grey Smoothies', the humourless grey-suited civil servants, and the overall needs of a Crown Court he soon finds himself struggling to keep the peace and his own delightful humour.
Charlie is confronted by a number of topical issues he hadn't anticipated; invited to join the Court of Appeal he finds himself faced with a case involving the 'confusion' of one of his team. In another a teacher must be penalised for defacing a statue, a huge and mysterious cat comes to the rescue in yet another case, and so the harassed Judge must pick his way through this minefield of exasperating cases in order to keep everyone from the cannabis lobby to the anti-slave traders happy with his judgements.
No hope of a quiet life for Charlie then, but, as ever, he deals with the issues of the day with satirical good humour, insight and wit. Another entertaining and insightful look at the British court system and the long-awaited sole Walden novel.

Sage Poe had one goal for Bone Gap's annual Snow Gala: enjoy a quiet evening that definitely isn't a date with a handsome Sheriff. But when socialite Regina Kane drops dead at her own winter wonderland, Sage's plans melt faster than an ice sculpture in July.

Behind the designer dresses and crystal champagne flutes lurks a blizzard of secrets. There's Regina's perfect husband with his practiced smile, her prodigal daughter back in town with an axe to grind, and enough social climbers to fill a country club. Everyone had a motive, and everyone has something to lose.

Between dodging Aunt Hecate's increasingly unpredictable magical outbursts and pretending she doesn't feel that spark every time Sheriff Emmet Quill looks her way, Sage must untangle a web of lies as intricate as the snowflakes falling outside.

But someone at this gala is playing a deadlier game than social politics. As the temperature drops and the body count threatens to rise, Sage discovers that in Bone Gap's high society . . .

The higher you climb, the harder you fall. The brightest smiles hide the darkest secrets. And sometimes, the most dangerous weapon is a whispered word.

SNOW GALA. Where the elite meet . . . to kill.

What will it take to decipher the alien signal and unlock the secrets of the Anomaly? And how should we reply when we decode their message?

A lot of people don't think we should trust the aliens who are reaching out to us. I can't pretend I don't understand why.

But with no other way of putting things right, we have to at least figure out what they're saying.

A breathtaking new, medieval thriller in the tradition of The Name of the Rose and Game of Thrones by acclaimed historian Stephen O'Shea.

The year is 1242. Dominican inquisitors are traveling in France, persecuting and torturing suspected heretics. But then someone starts killing the Inquisitors . . . and whoever it is must be stopped before the fanatical Dominicans wreak their brutal revenge, provoking the people to rise in revolt against the French Crown for allowing the bloodshed. So the Crown sends Balian of Mallorca, a notorious alchemist/physician/polyglot who many believe to be a sorcerer, to Languedoc to solve the perplexing mystery. Along the way, Balian gains an unlikely partner in his investigations, a possibly clairvoyant noblewoman who disguises herself as a man . . . and they are plunged into a violent conspiracy of betrayal, deception, greed, and lust that could cost them their lives . . . and spark a massacre.

    Murder is so sang-froid!
When the Reed family—temporarily exiled to France—is once again safe, Ginger decides to turn the event into a much needed holiday. And the absolute cake is Ginger’s reunion with her American friend Haley Higgins, who is working in France on a practicum to become a lady doctor.
Ginger celebrates the happy reunion by throwing a party at their villa in Paris, but the joyous activities are halted when a body is discovered. Like old times, Ginger puts her detective skills to work while Haley provides her forensic knowledge. As party guests continue to become more suspicious and worthy suspects, Ginger’s own past is soon on trial.
Has a long-ago, war-time “error” resurfaced to steal more than Ginger’s joie de vivre?
