Collected here, from a period of nearly five decades, are thirty-six of Norman Lewis's best articles. In each, his writing crackles with poker-faced wit and stylistic brilliance. As a witness to his times – the good, the bad and the absurd – he was unmatched, and his instinct for important events, and moments, was infallible. His range here includes Ibizan fishermen, an interview with Castro's executioner, the genocide of the South American indigenous tribes, a paean to Seville and his meeting with a tragic Ernest Hemingway. Lewis told Ian Fleming, who had commissioned him, that the meeting was 'a shattering experience of the kind likely to sabotage ambition'. Fortunately it didn't, and the articles assembled between these covers are compulsive, hilarious, tender and beautifully written, at times deeply upsetting and always unforgettable.

    ABOUT THE FILM
"The Silence of the Lambs" is a 1991 psychological horror-thriller directed by Jonathan Demme. The film follows FBI trainee Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster), who is tasked with interviewing the imprisoned cannibalistic serial killer, Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins). Starling seeks Lecter's help to catch another serial killer, "Buffalo Bill," who is abducting women. As Starling and Lecter form an uneasy connection, she delves into the disturbing psychology of both killers. The film explores themes of power, manipulation, and the darkness of the human mind, blending crime investigation with psychological tension and horror. It remains a highly influential film in the thriller genre.

    TRIVIA SAMPLES:

“Sir Anthony Hopkins based his portrayal of Dr. Hannibal Lecter on a friend in London who never blinked while speaking, which unnerved anyone around him.”

“Jodie Foster spent a lot of time with real-life FBI agent Mary Ann Krause to prepare for her role as Clarice Starling. Krause inspired the scene in which Starling stands beside her car crying, suggesting it as an emotional release from the overwhelming pressures of her work.”

“The real FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit assisted with the film, ensuring its portrayal of the FBI's profiling work was accurate.”

“The production received full cooperation from the FBI, who saw the film as a potential recruitment tool to attract more female agents.”
