  Tim worked as a bush pilot in Northern Quebec and Labrador. As a commuter captain he flew Twin Otters into Montreal’s downtown STOLport, and later flew these float-equipped aircraft on Canada’s West Coast.  
  Working as a Civil Aviation Inspector for Transport Canada he became “The Queen's Bush Pilot in British Columbia.” During his thirty-one-year rise to management levels in the federal Government, he experienced the perils of both the wilderness and the boardroom.  
  An active pilot in retirement, Tim continued to serve the aviation community in BC as a director for the Canadian Owner’s and Pilots Association and the British Columbia Aviaton Council.  
  Take a peek into the inner workings of Transport Canada in its heyday, when it was not only a regulator but also when it operated the air navigation system, air traffic services and most of the airports in Canada.

Although much has been written about their role in general, little has been written about specific lines. The Cumberland Valley Railroad, for example, played an important strategic role by connecting Hagerstown, Maryland to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Its location enhanced its importance during some of the Civil War’s most critical campaigns.    Because of its proximity to major cities in the Eastern Theater, the Cumberland Valley Railroad was an enticing target for Confederate leaders and an invaluable resource for the Union Army. In October 1859, abolitionist John Brown used the CVRR in his fateful Harpers Ferry raid. The line was under direct threat by invading Confederates during the Antietam Campaign, and the following summer suffered serious damage during the Gettysburg Campaign. In 1864, Rebel raiders burned much of its headquarters town, Chambersburg, including the homes of many CVRR employees. The railroad was as vital to residents of the bustling and fertile Cumberland Valley as it was to the Union war effort.   Targeted Tracks is grounded on the railway’s voluminous reports, the letters and diaries of local residents and Union and Confederate soldiers, official reports, and newspaper accounts.   Known for his posters for cabarets and performances, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (1864- 1901) was the painter of Parisian nightlife par excellence. Completely immerged in the bohemian milieu of the period, he produced numerous paintings and lithographs representing the lower levels of society. More than any other painter of his time, Lautrec stands out as the embodiment of Paris. At night, the city of hidden and frenzied pleasures, as well as of outdoor games during the day; the city on whose perpetual stage-boards the passing show ceaselessly changes into history has never been better understood or more strikingly expressed on canvas. Oscillating between Postimpressionism and Expressionism, he loved to paint dancers and singers at work in the cabarets of the capital. His touch is vigorous, his colors pure. Despite his personal handicap, his numerous works and posters are full of turbulent, incessant movement and figures such as the famous Goulue or Valentin le Désossé. Without doubt too entangled in this Parisian bohemia, he died of syphilis and chronic alcoholism at the age of only thirty-seven, leaving behind a substantial body of work.
