From legendary Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and MMA master Rickson Gracie comes a riveting, insightful memoir that weaves together the story of Gracie’s stunning career with the larger history of the Gracie family dynasty and the founding of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, showing how the connection between mind and body can be harnessed for success both inside and outside the ring.
Read by Earphones Award Winner Fred Sanders.
Undefeated from the late 1970s through his final fight in the Tokyo Dome in 2000, Rickson Gracie amassed hundreds of victories in the street, on the mat, at the beach, and in the ring. He has joined the pantheon that includes Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, and Jackie Chan as one of the most famous martial artists of the twentieth century. Jiu-Jitsu, the fighting style developed and pioneered by his family, has become one of the world’s most prominent martial arts, and Vale Tudo, the “anything goes” style of Brazilian street fighting over which the Gracies had a monopoly, was an early precursor to the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Simply put, without the Gracie family, there would be no sport of “MMA,” no 4-billion-dollar UFC empire, and no “Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu” at strip malls all across America.
In Breathe, for the first time, Rickson will share the full story of how his father and uncles came to develop Jiu-Jitsu, what it was like to grow up among several generations of world-renowned fighters from the Gracie clan, and the principles and skills that guided him to his undefeated record. From learning to assert himself on the streets of Rio to gaining fame and honor in Japan and emerging through heartbreaking tragedy, the martial arts master shares tales of overcoming challenges, extolling universal virtues and showing readers how pride and ego are the enemies of success.
With profound insights into the sport and way of life that only a studied legend can provide, Breathe is an entertaining and magnified view of an enduring legacy as well as an inspiring tale of weathering life’s complexities and overcoming them with style and grace.

This Is My New Foundation: A Memoir of Loss, Faith, and Redemption — Based on a True Story
When life collapses without warning, what do you build from the rubble?
This Is My New Foundation is the powerful true story of Bill Bailey, a man shattered by crisis, grief, and the quiet devastations no one sees coming, and the extraordinary journey that led him from breaking point to breakthrough.
From the hard-edged streets of Detroit to the disciplined halls of West Point, from the chaos of military service to the loneliness of personal loss during the COVID-19 pandemic, Bailey’s path is marked by struggle, resilience, and the fierce will to keep going. What looked like the end became the beginning of something transformative: a testament to survival, faith, and the unshakeable strength found only when everything else falls away.
Told with honesty, humility, and a steady undercurrent of hope, this memoir resonates with anyone who has ever felt overwhelmed by circumstance or overlooked in their own story. Bailey shows us that pain can be a teacher, faith can be a blueprint, and healing can begin, even in silence.
This book is a reminder for all who are searching, rebuilding, or trying to rise again:
    You don’t rebuild with bricks.
You rebuild with truth, faith, and a new foundation.

Stéphane Breitwieser and the Greatest Art Thief in History

Between 1995 and 2001, a man walked into 239 museums across Europe and walked out with objects that did not belong to him. He stole paintings by Rubens, Brueghel, and Watteau. He took sculptures, manuscripts, and artifacts that had survived wars and centuries. He carried them out beneath his jacket while guards stood at exits and cameras recorded visitors passing through galleries. No one stopped him. For six years, no one even knew it was the same person.

Stéphane Breitwieser did not steal for money. He never sold a single piece. He kept everything in a locked attic room in his mother's house in Mulhouse, France, where he sat alone for hours, surrounded by beauties.

What seemed like an endless reign of theft would soon be shattered by one mistake that would unravel the whole empire of stolen treasures.

Louis Armstrong once claimed that “Every time I close my eyes blowing that trumpet of mine—I look right in the heart of good old New Orleans…It has given me something to live for.” This statement conjures an image which most anyone familiar with jazz music can recall: Armstrong clutching his trumpet forcefully, his eyes closed in a manner that distances him from his physical surroundings in favor of a perfect harmony between the man and his instrument. As Armstrong alludes to in this remark, this connection also speaks to the enduring influence of his New Orleans background, which informed his musical style and indeed continued to live on through his music. To be sure, while performing, Armstrong appeared lost in a reverie, a condition that imbued his performances with a kind of mythical flair, as if one were watching a man consumed by a moment of transcendence. In other words, if the music of Louis Armstrong produced an emotional response in the listener, this invariably paled in comparison with the deep, organic pathos he was able to produce through his music.
In 1956, Duke Ellington was featured on the cover of Time Magazine after a bravura performance at the Newport Jazz Festival that summer. This remains one of his most iconic achievements, and a landmark for jazz music as a whole (only four jazz musicians were ever displayed on the cover of Time). At the same time, however, this recognition stands as one of the prevailing ironies of Ellington’s career, as he was deep into the latter stages of his performing life by this point. Indeed, there is a way in which everything that Ellington had done up to that point in his career was obscured. Put differently, it is misleading to recognize Duke simply for his accomplished performance at the festival, as one could justifiably argue that he transformed the very nature of jazz (both its stylistic qualities and its cultural identity) in his career up until this point.
