Synopsis

In the heart of New Orleans' vibrant French Quarter, Carmela Bertrand's quaint scrapbooking shop, Memory Mine, is a haven for creativity and self-expression. But when a late-night scrapbooking session turns into a crime scene, Carmela finds herself thrust into a dangerous mystery.

As the owner of the neighboring antiques shop is found murdered in the alley behind Memory Mine, Carmela and her customers become the prime suspects in the police investigation. Determined to clear her name and protect her friends, Carmela embarks on a quest to uncover the truth.

With her trusty sidekick, Max, a rescued dachshund with a knack for finding trouble, Carmela delves into the victim's past, uncovering a tangled web of secrets, hidden grudges, and unrequited love. As she pieces together the clues, Carmela realizes that the killer may be closer than she thinks.

As the body count rises, Carmela finds herself in a race against time to stop a ruthless murderer before they strike again. With each new revelation, she puts herself in danger, but she's determined to bring justice to the victims and restore peace to her beloved community.

In this gripping mystery, Carmela must use her keen observation skills and her love of scrapbooking to solve the puzzle before the killer silences her forever. With twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat, An Unforeseen Puzzle is a story of courage, friendship, and the power of the human spirit.

Most people only consider the Mississippi River when they cross it or when it inconveniently abandons its banks. But every year, millions of tons of cargo are transported by towboats on the river. In Peep Light, Captain Lee Hendrix provides unique insight on people who work and live on and near the Mississippi River. Hendrix, formerly a pilot for the Delta Queen Steamboat Co., has worked on the Mississippi for fifty years. In 2014, Hendrix became captain of the towboat Mississippi with the US Army Corps of Engineers, then he later retired to return to passenger vessels. For Hendrix and others like him, he is at home on the river, living and dining with the same people they work with, working with familiar faces for years at a time and yet meeting new people every day.

Demonstrating a fascination not only with the river but also with the passions and dreams of those who live and work on it, these stories range from personal reflections on aging, experiencing one's first night on the river and the complex emotions that come with it, working on the deck, promotion to pilot, the characters working aboard these boats, and the history of the river itself. Peep Light unites humans with the river through engaging storytelling and sheds light on Hendrix's rare experience along one of the most powerful and important waterways in the world.

The Olympic Class ships were intended to be the greatest liners to ever sail the oceans, but the Britannic sank only four years after her sister ship the Titanic. While the wreck of the Titanic is two miles below the surface and rapidly deteriorating, the Britannic is much more accessible (only 400 ft down) and remains largely intact. One of the largest passenger ships ever to have sunk, her wreck presents a unique opportunity to explore the interior of the Olympic Class liners, and examine areas which on the Titanic simply no longer exist.

Simon Mills bought the wreck of the Britannic in 1996 and has spent more time exploring it than anyone else. Inside the Britannic is the sum of decades of work covering every inch of the shipwreck as he searches for answers to century-old questions, and discovers new mysteries to solve. Simon takes a forensic approach but this book is more than just the autopsy report of a ship.

The Britannic may have been lost over a century ago, but Simon Mills's fascinating new book gives everyone unparalleled access to rediscover her.

A bestselling author offers a refreshingly honest, compassionate guide to the sh!tstorm that is divorce: falling apart, staying afloat, and new beginnings (whether you are ready for them or not). After 12 years together, 2 children, 10 pets, and 5 properties, Dawn and her partner decided to call it quits. In the newest installment of her bestselling Sh!t No One Tells You series, Dawn tries to figure out what happened… and what happens next.  Dawn takes you on her own bumpy, meandering, and often absurd journey through the destruction of a life exploded by divorce. She dodges legal hurdles, irrational decisions, alarmed therapists, random hobbies, and a concerning number of dating app profiles that look like the beginning of a true crime podcast. But somehow, she found herself stronger—and happier—on the other side.   Leaning into the mess, Dawn helps you learn the art of embracing Netflix and cry, the healing power of profanity, the importance of assembling the right support squad, how to survive the sh!tshow of co-parenting, and much more. Joined by an insightful chorus of divorced friends, Dawn delivers a true-to-life and funnier-than-it-should-be guide to discovering the unexpected value in the wreckage. What if divorce isn’t just a loss—but an opportunity?
