According to legend and a cursory look at Google, rugby was created in 1823. When William Webb Ellis allegedly picked up the ball, and ran with it, rugby was born. How true this is, we don't know. But what we can almost guarantee is that no matter how the game started, even after just one day of the sport being invented, some people will have said that it was better in the f***ing old days.
As progressive as rugby has become (both on and off the field) many feel that rugby 'yesterday' was better than rugby today. But do the stats back this up? Do the ill-informed opinions of the book's author back that up? This book examines various aspects of the game, and judges whether rugby's best days are behind, or ahead of it.
    Let the debate commence . . .
Hilarious, off-beat and (surprisingly) insightful, this is the perfect gift for rugby fans all around the world.

Why golf is like all the best things in life - it's more complicated than it looks

"The Only Blasphemy" is an essay from mountaineer legend John Long chronicling his solo ascent at Joshua Tree National Park's Half Dome with climber extraordinaire and childhood friend John Bachar.

John Long (born July 21, 1953) is an American rock climber and author. A skilled free climber, Long popularized "free soloing" (climbing with no rope) during his high school days out at Joshua Tree National Park, first introducing John Bachar to the practice in 1974 with their now fêted ascent of Double Cross, at Joshua Tree. Long's many climbing feats include the first one-day ascent of the most sought after rock climb in North America, the 3,000 foot Nose route on El Capitan, on Memorial Day, 1975, with Jim Bridwell and Billy Westbay. The following year, partnered with Dale Bard, Long made the second one-day ascent of El Cap via the West Face, in the remarkable time of five hours. He followed this with blitz ascents of Leaning Tower, Washington Column, Half Dome and Ribbon Falls, precipitating the modern speed climbing movement so popular today, both in Yosemite Valley and beyond.

Gary Telles has been narrating audiobooks for the past ten years. A veteran stage actor, he has performed classical, contemporary and original theatre across the country, in addition to appearing on television, radio and CD-ROM.

The official autobiography of Wasim Akram, the 'Sultan of Swing', one of the greatest fast bowlers in the history of cricket.
For twenty years, Wasim Akram let his cricket do the talking - with his electrifying left-arm pace, his explosive striking as a batsman, and his inspirational leadership. For another twenty years, he kept his own counsel about his cricketing days - full of drama, controversy and even mystery - in a country, Pakistan, that to outsiders is a constant enigma.
Sultan tells the story of cricket's greatest left-arm bowler, and one of its enduring survivors, who was chosen from the streets of Lahore and groomed by Imran Khan to become champion of the world - he was Man of the Match in the final of the 1992 World Cup which Pakistan won. Along the way were unforgettable rivalries with the legends of his time, from Viv Richards and Ian Botham to Sachin Tendulkar and Shane Warne. All of this against a backdrop of conspiracy and intrigue over ball tampering and match-fixing, about which Wasim finally sets the story straight.
Sultan provides an unprecedented insight into the life - both on and off the field - of a cricketer who revolutionized the sport with his speed and swing, and a patriot buoyed and burdened by the expectations of one of the game's most fanatical publics.

This is the audio recording of the "Phantom Punch" title fight--the second championship bout between Muhammad Ali and Sonny Liston--held on May 25, 1965, at St. Dominic’s Hall in Lewiston, Maine. It also includes a follow-up analysis by boxing experts. This rematch is infamous for the controversial "phantom punch" that led to Liston's quick defeat in the first round. Ali knocked Liston down, but the punch was not clearly seen by many observers, leading to speculation about a fix. The fight was marred by confusion, as the referee failed to administer a proper count, and the atmosphere surrounding the event was tense, contributing to its notoriety.
