  In this third collection of poems Papadopoulos addresses the historical subject of the Pontic Greek massacre in the 1920’s in a series of “sonnet-monologues” that link cinematically to create a very specific, semi-fictional account of a group of people living within this particular historic context.  His own  Greek family is of Pontic and Cretan origin, and he traveled the black sea extensively while writing these poems, but the abstracted landscapes and the slightly “grotesque” characters that inhabit these poems lead anyone, regardless of his/her knowledge of the region,  into a new and intimate relationship with this volatile and tragic story. 
  "The Black Sea won’t be for everyone. The subject is unrelentingly dark, rarely leavened by humor, and the history involved is known to few Americans. But it is a superb book, ambitious without being verbose. His opening poem meditates on the role of the poet in history, and in this subject alone he has plenty of company among Greek writers like Cavafy and Ritsos. The texture of cultural allusion in some of these poems is quite rich, yet the book dispenses with footnotes and leaves us to find our own way.   "Protagoras" is a dialogue by Plato, believed to have been written in the 4th century BCE. The dialogue centers around the character of Protagoras, a renowned sophist who claims to be able to teach virtue and excellence to others. Socrates, the main character and interlocutor in the dialogue, engages with Protagoras and his followers, challenging their ideas and methods. Throughout the dialogue, Protagoras and his followers argue that virtue can be taught and that all knowledge is relative to the individual. They use a variety of rhetorical techniques and arguments to defend their position, including the famous statement, "man is the measure of all things." Socrates, however, challenges their ideas, arguing that virtue cannot be taught and that there must be some objective standard of knowledge and truth. Read in English, unabridged.

In addition to leading the Bronx Bombers to four World Series during his time there, Ruth set several single season and career records, elevating the team and MLB itself in ways that athletes could hardly dream of today.  
  	Few have influenced Major League Baseball like Ty Cobb, whose career spanned over 20 seasons. The Georgia Peach overcame early hardships to set nearly 100 MLB records in his time as a player and player-manager for the Detroit Tigers and Philadelphia Athletics. With an MVP and Triple Crown under his belt by the age of 25, Cobb went on to produce statistics that still lead MLB in several categories, including 4,065 combined runs scored and RBIs, a career batting average over .365, and at least 11 batting titles.
