Sinossi

Padraig Regan’s poems delight in the sensual and the visual: this pamphlet is alive with the textures of paint, sweat, sugar and overripe fruit. Regan riffs on art history in a way which is playful and inquisitive – Johann Zoffany drinks mojitos with David Hockney; Caravaggio outrages and compels; Queen Elizabeth I is effortfully glorious.

Lady Windermere's Fan, A Play About a Good Woman is a four-act comedy by Oscar Wilde, first produced 22 February 1892 at the St James's Theatre in London. The play was first published in 1893. Like many of Wilde's comedies, it bitingly satirizes the morals of Victorian society, particularly marriage. The story concerns Lady Windermere, who discovers that her husband may be having an affair with another woman. She confronts her husband but he instead invites the other woman, Mrs Erlynne, to his wife's birthday ball. Angered by her husband's unfaithfulness, Lady Windermere leaves her husband for another lover. Or does she? Is it really possible to trust delicious gossip? Are all men really bad? These and many other questions are raised and if not answered, then held up for public scrutiny in this biting satire of morals and proper behavior. The best known line of the play sums up the central theme: We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars. —Lord Darlington (from Wikipedia and the reader)

Hollywood is indelibly printed in our minds as the ‘go-to’ place for entertainment and has been for decades. When there really did seem to be more stars in Hollywood than in Heaven Hollywood Stage had them performing films as radio plays – on the sponsors dime of course. Classic films now become audiobooks with many featuring the original stars from way back when. Here's Mary of Scotland starring Joan Crawford & Franchot Tone.

Robert Holman's Jonah and Otto is a humane, funny and ultimately haunting play that explores masculinity, identity and what it means to be English.
Over the course of a single day, two men share their solitude and unfold their secrets. They disagree with each other about women, about lust and about guilt. They question the power of magic, of redemption and the price of freedom, each seeing himself more clearly through the eyes of the other.
Jonah and Otto premiered in 2008 at the Royal Exchange, Manchester. This edition was published alongside its London premiere at the Park Theatre in 2014.
'extraordinary... Robert Holman's achingly beautiful new play takes you into other worlds, but it is rooted firmly in this one... a recklessly courageous play about two men struggling to find the courage to live, love and to be the best possible version of themselves' - Guardian
'a quiet power... Robert Holman's plays rumble and reverberate in the mind long afterwards' - The Times
'astonishing... Brimming with emotional wonder, Jonah and Otto is an intricately layered creation that hums hypnotically' - Independent
